cs_damage was a hostage rescue map that was featured in Counter-Strike: Condition Zero during its development and was designed by Dan Haigh while Gearbox Software was working on Counter-Strike: Condition Zero. It was one of the first maps revealed of Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and was very prominently featured in the media. Early screenshots released in 2001 showed a very sand like coloring for the wall textures and dead broad-leaved trees were also showcased.
The map also made numerous media appearances in 2002, including the official trailer and videos by GameSpot, GameStar, PC Games and PC Action. Media released in 2002 indicated that some quite major retexturing of the map had taken place. In addition, the the broad-leaved trees had been replaced by palm trees.
When Ritual Entertainment took over development of the map, the geometry seems to have been scrapped. However, the textures were reused for the Alamo mission.
