Beta 4
  • Addition 6 new floors have been added!
  • Addition A staircase has been added to make the new floors more accessable (and realistic)
  • Feature navmesh is now included with the map (the navmesh generator does NOT like vertical maps..)
  • Feature The crane now raises and lowers its cargo at random intervals
  • Removal The cheap fog from b3 has been removed
  • Removal removed the indoor kill barrier
  • Overhaul The elevators have been overhauled in order to make the new floors more accessable
  • Overhaul In-map Options have been revamped
  • Adjustment The options room has been relocated for easier access
  • Adjustment Textures have been changed
  • Adjustment The kill barrier has been lowered
  • Adjustment The map ceiling has been raised
  • Improvement The skybox & fog has been changed to hide the skybox seam
  • Beta 2 and Beta 3.01 have been removed
  • Textures have been packed with the map

This will be the last update for this map--at least for the time being.

  • Addition 86: added an empty room
  • Addition 89: Increased the number of player spawns
  • Tweak 86: changed window textures
  • Tweak Allowed more light to shine on lower floors
  • Adjustment 86: moved the secret room somewhere else
  • Adjustment Changed fog type
  • Adjustment Changed some details in the Gman's room & allocated him next to the Secret room for accessibility
  • Adjustment Moved precipitation above the building
  • Adjustment Increased the amount of rainfall
  • Adjustment 86: Adjusted prop placement
  • Adjustment 86: Adjusted cubemap position
  • Improvement Increased the height of the map
  • Feature Fog can be turned on and off in the secret room
  • Feature The fall damage for the interior and around the exterior of the building can be turned off via the Secret room
  • Feature Secret room now has map controls
  • Feature The lower floors are now accessable by turning off the floor walls in the Secret room
  • Removal Removed area portals due to issues
  • Removal 87: Removed the climbable attribute from the physics ladder

Heights Heighten

More than 900 feet above the city lights gm_VertiCo will give you a view that will most certainly give you acrophobia.

Map Features:
-3D Skybox
-4 blank canvas floors
-Secrets
-Functioning multi-floor elevators with call buttons
-semi realistic deaths
-breakable windows and support columns
-a gloomy atmosphere
-strafe jumps

Small map I initially developed for peer-to-peer sandbox servers, however the map can probably be used with other gamemodes.

This map also includes the custom textures used in the maps' creation. See the readme text file for more information.

    I'll probably have a fix for that today or this weekend. I decided to release beta 2 since my main goal of improving the playable area's aesthetics was done.

Development Info

Notes

Bugs 

Yes, like every other map in existence, this one also has bugs to squash.

Notably some cubemap errors with weapon models and lighting as well as incorrect textures in some areas.

Specific Software

My profile includes a list of software used for this map, however, i used the demo version of "IconXP" to create the elevator buttons. Link

Elevators

I used func_movelinear(s) for the elevator platforms
(Yes i tried using both tracktrains and tanktrains, but for simplicity and less headaches i opted for the movelinears)

Goals

This is probably the first polished map I have ever released (and no, the two other ones I made don't count. I'll probably get around to fixing those soon...)

I finally figured out 3D skybox properties, and the fact that a new PC is in order.

Future 

In the future, given enough feedback, I'll go back and revise the map, I might even release a port for other specific gamemodes.
