Half-Craft Northstation

A Map for Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

My first map. It took me about 6 months to finish.

It is original project converging Half-Life and Minecraft aesthetic in an experimental way.

Large urban style map featuring two railway stations,  few t-junctions, 4 bedroom house imported from Minecraft with 2 way portal, 4 one way teleports leading to rooftops, 2 elevators (technically teleports as well) and more.

It is rather large map with 22 spawnpoints.

Some railway related elements were imported from first 2 stages of Half-Life 2 single player game.

Massive help from Marla with detailing and lighting of this map.

Special thanks go to Outlaw, Neolantis, McGrandpa and Toecutter for all the help during development of this project.

Minecraft textures originally by Mojang. 

Source version of textures by Collide, Dampfundel, Marca.

Minecraft font by Mojang. 

Minecraft font for Windows by Andrew Tyler.

    Maybe, if we will not claim to do for HL3 maps that only would run in HL4...  ;)

    All of us, at the beginning, thought we could build without limits, then the experience in gaming and mapping taught that it's often better to remove things rather than adding. :)

Some brushes appear and disappear in certain areas, being the map very wide, open and detailed, and therefore very difficult to optimize. The search for realism is evident, except of course the Minecraft style zones, which appear a bit out of scale, with small spaces and narrow corridors, penalizing the game flow.
    But being obviously an experiment, and especially a first work, these limits are forgivable, and not detract from the quality of your map.

    I was indeed unaware of Source engine limitations when I was creating HC Northstation. Believe it or not, I was planning to add even more elements to this map. The initial plan was to make all inside areas playable for more gameplay variety. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the time spend during the creative process of this map.

    sorry I misunderstood, he said it took him 6 months to finish which implies he started the map around June of this year. Maybe "it took me 6 months to make this map 2 years ago" would be more accurate and less confusing.
