Redux Beta 3 5d
  • Addition Added another easter egg (by breaking certain blocks) but it doesn't do much for now. Yet to be decided.
  • Tweak Background music should now be recognized as music by the game. (Allows control via music volume slider)
  • Addition Added a new room for picking minigames/humilation (depends on which button was pressed)
  • Addition Added a new minigame (wipeout sweeper)
  • Addition added a new humilation (l4d2 style gallery)
  • Optimization Removed chunks of func_breakables, some areas in the snow area are now hollow. (Needed to reduce entity counts for the new minigames)
  • Addition A larger cave is now viewable from the main cave (Aesthetics only)
  • Tweak Music now continues for 5 seconds after the round ends instead of instantly stopping
  • Improvement Raised the starting position for the mincart as people kept dying when jumping over the cobblestone block
  • Improvement The mincart trap has a smoother path now
Redux Beta 2 8d

A Minecraft themed map for TF2 deathrun.

I do recommend using this map on servers running a VSH based deathrun mode however I have made some changes to try and suit other servers a little better.

Here are the current main features:
  • Twenty manually activated traps
  • Two random choice doors (one is a pair of doors, the other is a pair of vents)
  • Background music that fits
  • Multiple minigames & humiliations
  • Easy yet fun design
  • Some original and unique traps
Note: I forgot to mention in the update changelog about the choice vents, they are now actually random and can't be triggered by slowly getting close to the edge anymore. Plus the crushing pillar trap is now quieter and has an extra pair of columns. I believe I have addressed all ofAgentApple50's criticism now and made changes to everything listed.

    I probably will make atleast one more version fixing everything you've mentioned, thing is I am working with this map from a custom VSH plugin point of  view. So I keep forgetting about scouts that can double jump etc.

    Would you know of what deathrun plugin apart from VSH people use a lot? Then I would be able to work with compatibility a bit more.

    I agree the 16 traps bit may be a downside to some.

    But I don't really agree that there were no signs of effort put into the map. Could you expand on your part about how it doesn't even meet the standards of a deathrun map?  so that I can improve my future work and perhaps this map in the future?

    I personally dislike this map, and many people will as well. It is incredibly poorly designed and shows no signs of actual effort, even though you made it from scratch, making this map look like a port. There are lots of elements in the map that doesn't even meet the standards of a deathrun map. Needlessly to say, you can make better maps than this.

    While there are only 16 traps, the traps are bigger than most maps, similar to the size of DR_ASYLUM.

    Personal game tastes aside, what do you make of the overall map in terms of design and trap layout?

    I mean sure if you hate Minecraft then this isn't the map for you but understand the other Minecraft maps I have tried out there for TF2 are not that great.

    Minecraft it's not one of my favourite games, these days I have the game it works... but I really hate this fucking limit...

    With this squares, you can't make some kind of tricks like in cs 1.6 or cs:go by using vertex or other tools you just build stuff from squares...

    So far 6/10

    It's not cs 1.6 or other games which most people don't know... FOr god sake it's Team Fortess 2, (...Team Fortess 1 is horrible I just check it out and... it's like cs 1.6...) it can be always better for example using some specific tools for the ground, or other some other details models, sounds...

    I originally made this map thinking of a server I play on without double jump etc...

    I almost forgot some servers do have double jump enabled and will definitely work on countering some of these just encase they do have it enabled.

    Most of those you suggested seem easy fixes, but I will ask about the last one you sure you didn't go near the button before shooting? I thought I had a trigger_once near the end which unlocked the button so that couldn't happen?

    Anyway thanks for pointing those out I shall work on those :)

    Cool map, it is definitely one of the best minecraft maps out there. Here is my report.

    You should add an afk killer for blue and red team. A cool idea would be that a  tnt minecart would ride down the room of red spawn and once it reaches the other side the room explodes. Or the floor could collapse and there is lava under.

    I also suggest a motivator. Maybe like a zombie or herobrine chasing the reds. I do understand that the map is in beta though. 

    Scouts can jump over the 3rd trap with the winger or double jump. Perhaps make it so they can only cross without jumping or just add invisible walls.

    At the 2nd trap, if servers have double jump or modified stats on weapons, players can jump over the piston wall using the hole they fell from if they time it correctly.

    Spies can sap the sentrys at the 4th trap when they start shooting.

    Jumping up and touching the minecart when it is not used kills you.

    Both chance doors in the diamond block area have a chance to activate at the same time, making it impossible to win.

    If you're near where the skeleton portrait stops and restarts, it can kill you without touching you. Left sticky row is where I was standing, right sticky row is where the portrait dissapears and restarts.

    Any class can easily jump over the black walls and escape when the trap is active.
