A Map for Team Fortress 2

Version 3 3y
  • - Added one new room to the right of the RED spawn
  • - Extended playable space to include a small outdoors area that is connected to the new room
  • - Pushed back invisible walls in Hale's outdoor spawn to allow players to stand on the platform surrounding the yard (also raised the invisible ceiling to accommodate this change)
  • - Added a second accessible staircase that leads to the upper platforms of Hale's spawn
  • - Many more minor detail changes

A VSH map set in a large brewery.

Another VSH map this time, vsh_brwery takes place in, well, a brewery.

The map consists of an open floored brewery, lined with walkways and vantage points raised above. This will usually result in RED team having a height advantage over Hale. However, none of these areas are particularly safe from a Hale's super jump ability.

There are a few areas that are sheltered from the mayhem of the brewery's main floor, including two outside areas (one of which is Hale's initial spawn point), a storage room full of boxes, and a maze of staircases to multiple raised platform areas. These places may be very useful for Engineers to build a nest, or for other classes to run away to when being chased by Hale.

    Great update to a great map, V3 adds nice details like the fallen roof tiles that really give more feeling to some of the more empty areas of the map. V3 also has a few more routes that really give players a lot of mobility options, and outside areas with insane levels of detail that add to the runic feel.

    Thought I'd share this gem from testing the map on a friends server, where Shockwhale uses the new area to pull off a stalemate


    Only complaint I have, somewhat visible in the video at 27 seconds, the skybox outdoors is VERY low for an outdoor area, comparatively, your other outdoor area's skybox is probably twice as tall, I'd suggest increasing it, bosses hitting their heads on ceilings, especially invisible ones, is not very attractive

    No other criticisms or advice to give, great map, looking forward to your next project/update!

    Thank you for testing the map on a server! I love the video; a very creative use of the staircase that I didn't foresee people doing, I'm very impressed.

    I will work on moving the invisible ceiling in that outdoors bit up to a more reasonable height. My initial reason was that, if it were any taller, players would be able to see over the fencing in that area and witness the lack of a proper natural environment (which is arguably my weakest point when making a map - making natural landscapes look convincing). I'm afraid the issue here was primarily my own laziness to try something I'm not confident with, sorry. I will see what I can do to alleviate this in version 3a.

    Place you could get stuck, eeeeh, it does take effort but this guy managed to do it.

    Love the map, its a favorite on the server I play on, if you ever find yourself unmotivated, take the time to look at some people loving your map (According to my mapmaker friend, helps a lot)

    Hello!
    VSH addict here, love the maps for VSH you've made, streets and brewery are already classics in the rotation of the servers I play on. Didn't realize you made a v2 of brewery untill now since the server I play on still runs on your v1 :s.

    So first off I wanted to tell you about an exploit in the map, at the corner (or side) where the fence meets the window in hale spawn, you can rj, sentry jump, wall climb etc. to get into the skybox.

    So speaking for the changes from v1 to v2, the level of detail is stunning, the rubble and boxes that come together to make a platforming puzzle is a neat stylistic and functional change.

    The extra props that arn't functional and the changing patterns of wood that are easier on the eyes really give the map an abandoned feel, and even though there isn't as much of a functional change here, there is a distinct level of depth in the different versions.

    I'd like to have something to critique, but everything from the spacing of the healthpacks to the platforming I agree with. The only neat thing I can possibly think of is giving players the ability to platform to the area above hale spawn (the area bounded by the fence) going up there I see how unappealing it can be to be able to walk to the fence and see outside the map, but I can't help but think about the possibilities with that sort of vantage point.

    Once again, thanks for making an awesome map, I'm looking forward to your next work

    Nice spread out abundance of health and ammo, not enough to feel extravagant, but enough not to feel starved for health.


    Clear distinct killbox, a gladiator like pit is present, jump in fight hale or pile on the damage from the relative safety of the sides.


    Would like to see a few more props, perhaps providing more ways to access the second floor, and a bit more areas that reward platforming/jukes


    Overall a very nice VSH map I can see becoming a very popular in the rotation.

  • Some of the lighting does not look the best
  • When observing the entire map from the top of the raised area, some props will flicker
These

issues do not affect the gameplay, fortunately. The lighting I can fix,

but the flickering is a mystery to me. I will look into it.
