Hostage rescue map that draws thematic and architectural reference from old French and Scottish villages
Calm - Hostage Rescue
Calm, a hostage rescue map, is a fully remastered rendition of my Counter-Strike: Source map from 2010, which itself was a quick remake of my Counter-Strike 1.5 map from 2003; talk about history.
The map draws thematic and architectural reference from old French and Scottish villages. It supports 32 players (16 vs 16) and features GSG9 vs Balkans. A manually-tuned nav file with place names is included for bot play.
For installation, simply extract the folder (including the 2 jpeg loading screen) in the zip archive to your \Counter-Strike Global Offensive\csgo folder.
Please support the map on the steam workshop (link below).
Enjoy the map.

Aaw yes, i see your change log and i like what i see.. I'll test your map again as soon as i get the time.. Can't wait checking out the new stuff.. :D
And thanx for including the open skybox for 'nades, the CEVO raters use to include that on their checklist, so it's a win for everyone..
Hoping for more good work in the future, always a pleasant surprise looking at your maps ;)
This map is very good. Still I have to submit a few bugs and things that was a little annoying when play-testing.
At the CT's spawn, the tree's branches plus leaves is going into the wall brush. That looks a bit weird. Not that it has any impact on gameplay.
Some of the brushes with the archs in the hallways can be jumped through and you can see the skybox.
are in a too lit area to be able to cast such volumetric lights as they do. It seems a bit weird and is a little distracting at some points.
Also, is really annoying, because you can't jump onto it.
The tree at the same square is bugged, so you'll stuck and can't even noclip out of it. Therefore i suggest a playerclip brush there.
The last turnoff point for me was the cosed skyboxes. the fact that you can't is really annoying and a real turnoff. Adding this will maybe amke up for the rest.
Although, much of this is really great! Especially I liked in the hallways.
And apart from not being able to throw grenades through it, serves as a really good illuminator.
Overall, I'd really rate it 10/10, but the bugs take the score down. So, because I think you could improve (since this is an awesome map) I'll not going to rate it, but give you time to fix things up and such..
Hope it helped, and very good work! ;)
I was a little dissappointed on how much your map focused on interiors. The outside bits are beautiful and I would have loved to see some more focus put onto outside areas, just too much hallways for my taste.
It's easy to learn and I love how you have a direct sniper line of sight from T spawn to CT spawn, kind of like the middle of dust2.
9/10 would bang

P :) always a pleasure to see you around.
The Ts are Balkans faction, chosen mainly to suit the European rural village theme and because the color palette of the map is mainly beige stone (to contrast with dark brown clothes of the Ts).
If more players will complain of the Ts then I will look for other factions choices :)
thanks again for all the support here and on steam, appreciate it

> As always, you respect the players, by giving them an easy to learn layout, good visibility and high fps.
> Good to see you back!
hey hey :) look who's back
Thanks mate, this means a lot coming from you. You disappeared from my friends list on steam and GB; add me back if you want

> Hey Will, I spent a good 20-30 minutes looking around your map in the mindset of making a quick video pointing out any issues I found.
> However considering in that whole 30 or so minutes I only managed to find one issue, I figured I'd just do a screenshot :)
> On that archway you can jump at it and see through parts of the map. As far as I can tell it is only that specific archway that lets you do it and you have to jump straight at it.
> It's only a really small issue, other than that it's a great map and superbly well made if that's the only issue I can manage to find.
That archway already has a clip brush but you managed to outdo it; you broke my map, how dare you Mini lol xD
But seriously thanks for pointing this out, i'll give it a closer look this afternoon to prevent players from exploiting it.
thanks for dropping by and the kind words :)
