Drop and Dodge

A Map for Portal 2

Jump through a laserfield and make your way to the end with your reflection cube tightly clutched.

Jump through a laserfield and make your way to the end with your reflection cube tightly clutched. This is my third ever release on GameBanana or the Workshop, feedback is appreciated! Thank you! Known Issues: @relay_pti_level_end doesn't appear to work, so the map's end will result in a very sudden send back to the main menu. Level Info Sign doesn't want to work either, displays 00.

It is always nice to test a new chamber in portal 2 (Glados did not make me say that) The map has a good flow and logical progression from start to finish. The player always knows where to proceed without frustrating guesswork or ambiguous directions. You went with a clean, portal 1 look for the chambers as opposed to derelict or overgrown theme of portal 2; it’s a nice change from most of the maps that use the standard portal 2 theme. The puzzles are nice and varied; they’re a bit easy to figure out but this is more than compensated by the unforgiving platform play/jumps. The soundtrack is a nice addition and the turrets are always a welcome bonus to any chamber; there is nothing more satisfying than finding twisted ways to dispatch the poor turrets through portals :) Speaking of gameplay, and as mentioned before, the platform part is really unforgiving and hard; I failed on the first 2 tries and managed to pass it on the 3rd try. It requires really precise timing to pull through. The moving platforms are unstable/slippery, coupled with that big squasher and the toxic water below, you really need pixel perfect jumps at precise timing to succeed, but still, the failure rate is high. If possible, you could probably slow down the platforms a tad so the failure rate is slightly lower. I encountered a bug that is worth mentioning: when going up in the elevator platform, the cube that I was carrying got stuck between the platform and the edge of the ceiling just before reaching the upper level. Nothing could be done as the cube wouldn’t budge and I had to reload a previous save to continue. You could probably extend that edge all the way down to the lower level so there is no gap anymore where the cube could get stuck. A nice puzzler/platformer chamber that in my opinion should be a bit more forgiving in the platforms part. Good job and keep it up.
