A Map for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Fast paced, double bombing scenario mission at Gellert

BACKGROUND: Budapest, September of 2018. Square of St. Gellert is under high alert following new information gathered by intelligence services. While access of district I. is being blocked, disguised as hotel personnel an underground movement is planning to bomb the newly reconstructed building. Tactical team has been deployed to prevent the radicals causing damage to the art relic premises.

IDEA: Try to variate the classic counter-strike bomb defusal gameplay without damaging balance. Thanks to CS:GOs new spawning priority this idea is now achievable. Therefore on a possible competitive match both teams must have two tactical plans.

DUTY: Beside quality entertainment a few holographic projectors placed in the map to deliver cultural knowledge to the community.

0_o ... you got legal advise from Valve? About what? Regardless, this is the first time I've seen a map utilize so much of source engine. The custom giblets on the window, that dangling physics "100th" ragdoll, animated props!,dynamic spawns, MOTHA FUCKIN CAMERAS?? ON CSGO??? I mean only legends actually get that to work in csgo... To be honest, the level design is a disaster waiting to happen, but I completely defend some of the design. Utilizing verticality and making players platform and implementing dynamic spawns are definitely respectable for novelty. -some areas lack detail still or are misleading/unintuitive.

After using 7-Zip it worked fine. I gotta say, I have never seen anything quite like this. The quality is beyond normal, definitly crashing throught the barrier of even the most impressive maps to date. It is in fact as good as the quality that FMPone produces, definitly on the same line. Both of you have that quality that goes even beyond Valve their own assets. So yea, as Will2K says, hats off to you man. You have the capacities to make everything come to life to your own needs. It is remarkable how precise exactly the hotel has been remade. Because some things look so real to the lifelike counterpart I assume you have been there and took many, MANY photo's for textures. Regardless, the quality of models and especially the textures look blatantly terrific! I was like staring for a few minutes at each and every texture thinking of how the hell you could even get those. HOWEVER, there are a few problems with this workflow: The filesize is the most obvious problem, as a 240mb BSP is a no-go for many servers. I know a lot of servers that even refuse over 100mb and that's a choice that falls in disadvantage over this map. It is easy to create whatever you want, and how much you want, but it's very hard to keep a map under an acceptable limit that way. The only maps I ever saw going over 200mb were Zombie Escape maps, and those where huge in size which counted for most of the size. I couldn't find, a single recycled material or model. That can work, but with the amount of content required for this project it's just too much. The best visual maps I see, FMPone for instance, uses a looot of custom content, or at least it looks that way. He carefully recycles a lot of stock content with his own custom content that on their turn are also being resused in the map itself. And, I understand that quality is important, but not every texture in a map should be of ridicilous amounts of resolutions. While I don't know all of the resolutions of the textures, I could see that most of them are most likely 1024x1024 or higher and brings in a lot of filesize very quickly. Regardless, the map looks astonishing. I could walk in it for a good hour and try to learn so much about correct modelling and fitting lighting. As far as gameplay concerns, I have to admit the map is gicantic and I ended up in some new rooms only a few rounds later, but it's not that the map has no potential because I can see there has been put effort in the gameplay as well! The way I see this, if you can manage the filesize in the future, there is nothing you can't do! Many, many congratulations man, I'm really baffled ;) EDIT: I wondered, now that I'm looking again at pictures, how you go to get all of these textures. Did you use like these so-called 'RGB Scanners' to capture the textures/models? Because I find it quite scary how some rooms look like 100% the same as the real counterpart. But, like 100% xD (bathroom)

    > **Posted by r.man MMIX** > **Notes:** > > - I'm working on an entire repack right now. > Gonna be out in the next 1-3 hours. Sorry i didn't know, i just had to use 7zip and it worked (it didn't work with Winrar). I really find the map outstanding, the atmosphere is incredible and the quality of your custom assets is awesome. I really would like to ask you few things and tips if you can add me on steam (nickname : leplubodeslapin), because i'm currently working on an opera house, and i have many difficulties on things that you did really well! Congratulations your map is awesome, i guess you're happy to finally release it :)

If I want to summarize your map in 2 words, I would say “visual masterpiece”. If this contest was about aesthetics and visuals only, this map would be the winner. It is made literally of 100% custom content; correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t find any stock content in the map. If you made all this content then hats off to you for designing both the map and its content and pulling a very nice job along the way. The attention to detail and the quality of the detail are staggering: it is more than a map, it is more like a 3D virtual tour inside the hotel. You feel like you’re there and although I’m not familiar with the real hotel/setup but I believe it was faithfully recreated to the tiniest detail. A quick Google search confirmed my thoughts and areas like the thermal baths or the dome are prime examples. Great job in making the map a cultural visit to a landmark in Budapest. The idea of double alternating spawn is novel but I’m not sure how well it will work for competitive setup. And speaking of gameplay, it takes a bit of time to get familiar with the map as I found navigation to be a bit confusing at start. I was able to find my way after a couple of rounds but I still botched a panic rotation between A and B after a bomb plant, missing a quick way to rotate. I guess it’s one of those maps that will take considerably more time to memorize the layout compared to other standard-layout maps. I noticed that you kept many of your curvy-shaped ornamental brushes as regular world brushes (good examples are all those arches and wall/ceiling/stair curves in south hall, dome and thermal bath among other locations). I’m also guessing that vvis took a considerable time to finish when compiling; it would be a lot better if you switched these to func_detail as vvis will take less time and your PVS will be tidier and fps higher. Great work, meticulous replication of a real life landmark done with high quality art direction and a very nice addition to the CSGO library. Keep up the good work and good luck for the contest.

Impressive, the bots taught me to travel up the ladders in the elevator shafts. There's tons of custom content, and the detail put into this map is astonishing. Otherwise map crashes the game after several rounds. Really looking forward to writing a full review. Hope everything works out.
