For the CEVO mapping competition, playtested rigorously and designed in a style similar to my old de_balfour map, effectively building the map up from a series of aim stages. This has been combined with rigorous playtesting of the final layout to hopefully deliver a fun to play level that playtesters have told me that they'd rather play over some of the existing official maps. Looking at the overview, although it wasn't intentional, this map's layout is essentially Dust2 but with a more developed middle and Long A, with another entrance into B.
The beautiful town is slowly being eaten away by an evil corporation who employs terrorists to blow up parts of the town to expand their operations. The middle of the map has already been blown sky-high- now only the church and the residential district remain. Can the CTs stop them? 16 times in a row?!?! Probably not.
A lot of effort has been made to ensure that detail does not interfere with the gameplay.
Sadly they didn't read the story in the description, also I wonder why they questioned the oriental lamps in the market place, I personally would have assumed it's in the Himalayas which are in Asia :/ sadly they couldn't put 2 and 2 together, and they seemed to mainly focus on small things still an amazing job 10/10
Its a brilliant map with sexy design:3 I watched all your videos and mostly i agree the things you say. You have great mindset for a mapper what i like. You take criticism and make assumptions if its right and more logical than some stupid remarks by people who want to act smart. The cevo review disappointed me as well. I liked some aspects he talked like for example the flying platform which could be used as an entrance was nice. I highli disagreed with the removing platform thing. It was alright. The most funny thing was how they bashed the map for being unbalanced when they didn't play it cuz they dont have time (so why have such a criteria on it? cant understand how can the balance be rated not being able to play test the map) if u dont have time just remove the criteria thats all. The most stupid thing was realism in the map..they talked about it not even considering reading the prologue of the map. The review was 5/10 the map is 10/10. Dont let the mapping spirit break down because of the shitty comp. Dont loose motivation phillip ! keep on mapping. I would love to see some climbing style maps from you. It would be quite a challenge to do something new! keep on mapping and good luck
Ps: (sorry for poor enlgish its not my first language)
It's one of the most professional maps I have ever seen. The displacements, the details, the buildings, the gameplay, it's very similiar to a valve map. You and your map inspires me to not give up my projects, and work harder. I wish you luck for future projects.
