  • Fixed teleport on surface for zombies stuck
  • Fixed trigger hurt in Hangar

  • Fixed lag/connection problem in the start
  • Added two beacons for both teams
I hope this new version fix the OP lag that servers and the players were getting in the start because of the movement of the helicopter. Enjoy!

A secret military base of USA that was shut down in 1990 after some sources that was another better and advanced base with high-tech projects. All Staff leave the Area41 under lockdown.

Storyline ================== After World War Two, the United States decided to create a secret military base in 1947 to prevent any future attacks against the americans. The whole facility was built under the desert of New Mexico that any one could find the base. In the meantime, the base was fully shut down in 1990 after some sources that the US Army was already with other better and advanced military base with recently research and high technology projects. Some private group of security guards and few engineers was still there to keep the place safety, protected and with maintenance up-to-date. When the world fell in the zombie apocalypse, all security staff that was in the Area41 moved out from the facility asap, letting the secret base abandoned and under lockdown in the Hangar area. With the objective of keeping the vehicles and all materials inside the base that anyone could 'steal it' or getting away. But the Patriots Anti-Missile was still activated, making a rescue helicopter crash into the desert, closer to the Area41. Now a few group of survivors have to find another way to proceed to the next quarantine zone, maybe they can find some useful stuff in the base. Becareful where you going, that place doesn't look good after few years disabled by the US army. Grab anything that you need and get out of there as fast as you can! Objective List ================== 1. Get inside in the military base 2. Hack the tunnel panel 3. Search for a security card 4. Open the Hangar's doors 5. Turn on the Hangar's generator 6. Call and wait for the cargo elevator 7. Break the panel to unlock the basement door 8. Break the Office's gate 9. Proceed to the teleport room 10. Charge the machine 11. Go into the teleport Credits & INFO ================== 'Spongebob' model; 'Maddog' logo and 'Rufus' texture was used in this map with full permission by the owners. Thank you ALL the playtesting team that helped with me find all the possible bugs, camp places, wrong objectives, exploits and teleports (zombie spawn) in the map. All feed-back given was added and hope you guys enjoy this new version of Area41. ANY crashes was reported while we were play testing in the server - server didn't shut down. Only 3 people got random 'hl2.exe' error in the 'wip6' version, but they said is normal in ZPS. If you got a random crash/server crash issue, contact me. Remember, map has ~94 mb, remember to have at least a 'FASTDL' on your server, otherwise the players will get 'missing map' problem since the download limit in zps is 64 for normal files. This project started in September and i just finished in the second day of 2014. Took me approximately 240 hours in Source SDK to make this map overall. Be sure to go back to this submission and comment & rate this map, says which changes did you like it, if the game-play is working and is fair for the both teams (Humans VS Zombies).     I've been hesitant to leave this review, as.. well, the maps really frigging old by now, and you have hopefully moved on from this map. However, simply seeing positive praise and not a single person voicing my concerns has finally convinced me that I should write a review of this map.

    Doing it in the comments, of course, since it gives more room to actually give a full review.

    The concept for the map itself is nice, and generally the map looks pretty good as well.  But... its just so painful to play, for the majority of the map.

    Outside of the late spawn bug, most of the map is poorly designed for zombie players. The beginning area is a wide open sandy desert where the zombies are doomed to just get gunned down before they can do anything. Even the spot where most survivors drop out of the plane from is invisible wall locked, so its hard to actually get there in time to do anything.

    The elevator going down here would be a good time for zombies to get kills, but theres literally no time for zombies to take advantage of it. Afterwards, it turns into zombies rushing survivors camping a spot with a lot of guns. While its POSSIBLE to sneak a kill as everyones leaving the elevator, any other kills after that is purely about luck of survivors being bad.

    Then the survivors drop their guns, and sprint to the office/keys area. Wow, do zombies finally get a chance to do something in such an area? Nope. Still forced to rush the survivors dead on, who get new equipment to waste the stuff they lost.

    Then comes the generator part(at least i think its supposed to be a giant generator room), where, surprise surprise, zombies are rushing yet again at the survivors dead on. This continues til the elevator opens(granted zombie spawn is close enough that its likely to get at least a few hits on survivors, maybe some kills, but its not FUN.)

    Now the elevator and the flooded basements are the redeeming factor on this map. They are straight up the best parts of the maps, allowing zombies a chance to ambush and act smart, instead of just blindly rushing the survivors in a straight line. The flooded basement the most, due to how dark the area is, and the water being deep enough to lurk under the waves to catch survivors fleeing in terror with no way to fight back outside of melee weapons or the occasional pistol.

    And then map throws it away to pretty much re-create everything awful about the bridge part on SpaceDead.

    On the positive side, outside of the brilliant flooded room/elevator, the map itself is beautiful looking, and the objectives are cool. Its fun as survivor as well. Just not fun for the zombie team for the most part.

    And thats where the issue comes in. Its just not fun to be a walking Meatshield when you're zombie player. Its more fun to be able to ambush survivors and play smart. More difficult to pull off properly on a linear setting, but not impossible. The map would need a complete redesign though, as everything outside of the water area is flawed in terms of gameplay.

    This seemed relevant to post simply due to the position  you're holding now, taba, as well as the possibility of you making another ZPO map in the future, this time as an official part of the game. And I want to see a fun, enjoyable, balanced ZPO map. Idc if its linear or not, but it has to be balanced. And sadly there is barely any 'balanced' linear maps.

    But hey, at least its better than core complex due to having the flooded basement!
