Nordhaven B3The Traditional Winter Festival of the Northnow available in strawberry beta flavour!
Something I've put a lot of work into (and still plan to put a substantial amount into), Nordhaven is to be my xmas/newyear map of 2009.
Nordhaven is a quiet village in the northern regions, where the midwinter festival is one of the most important times of the year for the inhabitants. They celebrate the coming of the new year by exchanging gifts, dancing, getting drunk and engaging in the traditional midwinter game of "steal the suitcase".
although not completely finished, I wanted to release a gameplay ready version to iron out the gameplay and other bugs that I might have missed.
special capture the present version:
to do list:
- detailing (icicles, some more windows, etc)
- background music (being supplied by SOBR)
rexy for the ammo models
zeeweir for the church bell
sinistarr for the skybox trees
- new models for ammo boxes
- 3D skybox
- added ammo/health packs
- details, displacements and doodads
- snow sentry
- first public release
I put this on our server a few days ago, and have played it 3-4 times with at least 20 players.
Low FPS - open floor plan needs something to limit visibility.
Memorable buildings/roof shape.
Center may need more cover.
Players suggested being able to go inside buildings.
Too few health packs?
Too many sniper vantage points?
Large wooden platforms up top don't seem to have any purpose.
Can get lost - more/bigger signs?
If you do nothing else, try to address the FPS issue. Yo might be able to section off one side of the map from the other. You might also be able to put a limit on visibility (sight distance) - which could fit in with it snowing.
How about a Payload Race version? :)
Nice map, i really like it.
I know it's still a beta, but i have tested it and found this.
You should fix this hole and add so the people can't jump over with scout and soldier.
I don't know why it's a bit wood in the snow there. Maybe you know? :p
I hope you fix this too, so it's not possible too bee seen later.
