Long street battles with access to rooftops and sewers. Defenders have height advantage but attackers surround them and can attack from all directions. Very different SD spawns from the norm. Snipers dream map with plenty of options for cover. Difficult to rush but with covering fire and some luck a rusher will be able to gain good position. Custom bomb site allows planting on server mainframe, rooftop satellite dish and downed chopper. Supports all gametypes, SD, koth (HQ),ctf, sab, dom, tdm, ffa. chopper and AS Please leave comments and bugs here, thanks.

    NEW Version available with more standard SD spawn points, if you want it post here and I will upload. or visit the GIZ server mentioned below and you will see it. previous post: Never played that game, i did love the movie blackhawk down tho, in particular the rooftop to street battles. am working with the guys at GIZ 85.25.145.29:28960 to alter some spawn points and bomb locations if anyone is interested in some innovation in SD gameplay. great server too, very nice maps in there mireg, thanks mate, your airport map looks great too, if you can work out some SD spawns to balance it up i'd love to give it a test. let me know if u need some help

    Nice looking map.Did u get idea from Delta Force:Black Hawk Down? Its realy look like one mission from that game.

    Can anyone confirm this error? the map seems detailed but there arent actually many different assets or textures used. i have played it with the newest openwarefare release but im not sure what platform the server uses, will check. thanks

    Thanks for the comment, the name Rescue relates to SD spawns, you will notice that most marines (attackers) spawn at the ends of the two streets but some marines will spawn near the crashed chopper - right in the middle of the defenders (but with some really good cover) You may also notice that if it looks accessible, it probably is, lots of the balconies are great sniper spots and you can climb a lot of things like vines, railings and on top of vehicles. I used quite a few mantle and ladder brushes so if it looks like a good spot, try and get there, u should be able too. Ive put a lot of thought into camping, some spots are great but have a few access points so campers will have to be very aware. re displacements (i think that is a valve term for terrain mesh?) the map has long streets and is already heavy on detail, additional detail would require a rethink due to the long view distances. i intend to remake this map (or at least use the layout) for modern warefare 2 oh, if anyone plays it on a respawn gametype i'd love some comments on that too (ive only had a good test on SD) thanks again suds

    Balance: This map is balanced... but not that balanced. With all the high points, the defending team has a massive advantage and the spreading map just makes it worse for the attackers unless they get lucky and the snipers' backs are turned. Sure there IS plenty of cover... but there are plenty of sniping opportunities. Design: Design is good... read what I said on balanced. However good this criteria may be, I think detail would fit better with this map... it is... extremely detailed. Except for one flaw... lack of displacements. The flat floor makes the repeating texture evident... maybe add more debris, more bomb craters... just a thought. Fun: Even when playing with bots... REALLY FUN. This is an awesome map. For the defending team this is really just shooting at stuff that moves but it is an interesting tactical challenge for the attacking team. Yes it is very fun. Gameplay: As mentioned above... gameplay is very good. A map built as such requires strategic moves in order to gain the upper hand. The defending team, meanwhile, can sit back and take pot shots at the attackers. Great for SD. Innovation: Not sure in what context you are using innovation. But it is an extremely well made map... A large amount of cover makes the survival rate slightly higher, while the machine-gunners will find it quite easy to pin down entire teams. Notes: Way to go for a first submission. Keep it up. The name is rather understating for such an awesome map however. How about calling it something like: Desert Fortress or something? Or simply Faceoff? Anyway. Awesome first submission. Keep it up.
