A Map for Team Fortress 2

A less stalemate-prone version of 2fort, with new rooms and passages.

Introduction

This map is an attempt to alter ctf_2fort to make it more fun and less prone to stalemates, while still maintaining distinctive 2fort features and gameplay. In addition to the balance tweaks and fixes of ctf_2fort_fixup, major features of the current (B2) release are:
  • Ramps to exit the water, to make it easier for enemies to attack the weakest defensive front.
  • A new room in each basement, to help overcome intelligence-guarding sentries.
  • New, separate main-spawn exits, to split defenders' forces and help attackers pass the area.
  • Vent access from the lower-courtyard to the basement, bypassing common sentry positions.
  • An unique way for flag-carriers to escape the enemy base, via the cooling tower and sewers..
  • Added pathways and hiding spots on the first floor.
And many other fixes and improvements.

News

July 29 2009: Beta 1 released. Aug 23 2009: Beta 2 released, with major new routes containing custom particles and soundscapes. Jan 21 2010: Beta 3 released, with new water-ramps, improved underwater areas, and size/performance fixes.

Known bugs

  • Some shadows are not as realistic as they could be, but I'm hoping in most places they're fine since nobody would truly notice.
  • HDR is not supported. The final version will have HDR, but for now it bloats the filesize.

Warning!

I've had a report that it crashes for somebody. It may be due to a TF2 bug involving the .ain navgraph files. If this turns out to be the problem I will have a b3_fixed version up tomorrow.

    This is ridiculously awesome! It's so nice to have a version of 2fort that isn't broken. I've been playing since it was released, and I've played so many games that last more than an hour in the original! You win when the other team just doesn't care anymore. You are awesome.

    Your goal for this map seems to be to make the Engie's life a living hell. As the only class that has no updates whatsoever (until six months from now), turning a map that used to show his finer qualities into one showing him to be a fossil is rather disheartening.

    But it is broken. If one team has three engies, you cant win. but i love what you did with the map. Much better.

    Pros: Much better, less camping and easier to avoid stalemates. Cons: Not many if any. Improvements: Just work on the known issues. And the water ramps should bottom out the ground underwater so people don't have to jump on them when exiting the water. Notes: Looks incredible, Valve should replace 2fort with this.

    So far I've gotten one (1) report that the map crashes when someone tries "create server". It works fine on both my desktop and my laptop. Does anybody else have problems?

    When is the next version comming? your map is just awesome and much better than the original 2fort.

    Pros: Absolutely beautifully arranged. Allows for greater depth and fresh challenges and surprises in game play and the idea of using completely new areas renews the joy. Cons: The ditch and pipes are an ugly mess. The exit from the ditch could be far less awkward and the interior of the pipes look horrible. Improvements: Make the pipes a less ugly colour, and the exit of the ditch less fiddly. Also, the room above the intel looks a teeny bit rushed- re-arrange the furniture a little?
