Ads keep us online. Without them, we wouldn't exist. We don't have
paywalls or sell mods - we never will. But every month we have large bills
and running ads is our only way to cover them. Please consider unblocking us. Thank you from GameBanana <3
You can already upload multiple files to uploads. Forcing authors to maintain old versions (and by extension, likely buggy/broken versions as well) is going to rub a lot of people the wrong way.
People who don't know any better will download old mod versions that have issues, and will complain to the authors about bugs that were fixed ages ago. The authors can either ignore them, get sassy with them, or just post the same copy/paste response every time that a repetitive question comes up. None of these are particularly positive outcomes.
I can see both sides of the coin on this, as sometimes authors (myself included) redact or remove features between versions that not everyone likes.
Forcing authors to keep old & potentially broke as hell versions up is asking for trouble, and skews the cost/gain ratio into the red.
How do you think this would work? Do you think that there's a magical algorithm out there that detects whether there exist older versions of mods or not? Do you think that creating one would be possible? I think that we all know the answer to that.
To be more logical and realistic, that's entirely up to the individual who uploaded said mod. If they want to leave a link to an older file, they'll do it. Otherwise, you're shit out of luck.
