Portal Beta Crosshair Variant

A GUI Mod for Portal

This is a crosshair I sort of gave up on. Me and a couple of other users were on the hunt for the portal beta crosshair, and I personally couldn't find it at all. I decided to recreate a replica with similar functionality.

This is the same crosshair you would see in early screenshots of the game or even on the steam store page.

As of this moment it is broken and CAN NOT be fixed due to how the crosshair natively works with the default scripting (that I assume is hard coded in the .dll). By broken you can see in the images I uploaded, the blue crescent doesn't highlight appropriately.

I included three versions in this download: One that has the feature of indicating the last portal fired correctly (being broken), and two others with no indication at all.

If anyone has an idea of how this issue can be fixed (I'm certain I tried everything), please either comment or PM me the ideal solution or direct download to a fix. Other than that the other two crosshairs packed in here are both functional with out previous portal indicator.

  • Really nice remake! Really is a shame that you couldn't get the problem fixed, but still, this is the closest that you can find so far!

    A concept is just an idea, in this case I had no physical copy of any assets at all what so ever. I built this crosshair 100% from the ground up and spent countless days for something so ridiculously tedious. 

    I might of thought about it if Valve made crosshair replacement somewhat easy, but in this case I literately had to counter-act pre scripted offsets and every design flaw. Since there is no way to actually determine the real value of these offsets it requires restarting the game hundreds of times with little 1 pixel adjustments.

    So no, I shall not credit Valve for this crosshair. In all honesty, Valve could've made this crosshair probably in less than an hour and a half if they fixed all the shitty alignment problems that fucked the original crosshair.
