Anybody in the United States (and some in Europe) who played arcade games in the late 80s through to about 1999 will remember that a lot of these games had a great big splash screen with a patriotic-looking crest, the phrase "WINNERS DON'T USE DRUGS" and the name of the director of the FBI from 1987 to 1993, William S. Sessions. (Thanks to Engrish this was often concatenated to Williams Sessions by Japanese developers.) As part of an agreement by the FBI and the American Amusement Machine Association, arcade games imported into the U.S. were required by law to have this splash screen, and they continued to appear on machines long after Sessions left office. (Arcade games made after Sessions left office would often instead display the less memorable "Recycle It, Don't Trash It!" splash screen.)
I seek to regain a bit of that old arcadey nostalgia for TF2 by creating this video. It's a replacement for the usual Valve logo video that plays every time you start the game (unless you have -novideo set in the commandline or something) and it pretty much emulates the original. It fades in, displays for 5 seconds- no audio- and then fades out.
I may make more videos like this, if anyone wants one. Perhaps the Recycle It one, or the old PARENTAL ADVISOLY WARNING that was on early Metal Slug games. If there's enough demand, I'll do it. Since I don't check FPSBanana that much, drop me an email at LHCLEGION@gmail.com or a PM at my youtube: www.youtube.com/LHCLEGION
Enjoy your nostalgia. :)
