Thanks to the moddersI just want to take a moment to first extend a huge thanks to this community and all the time people have put in to make these mods. I know that Smash 4 modding is mostly going away in favor of Ultimate at the moment, but I hope this pack can serve as a big celebration of the best (and weirdest) this community has been capable of. This wouldn't be possible without you guys, you all are awesome!
So first of all I should explain some stuff about the pack. There are two versions you can download, first is the Normal Version which has all the mods with nothing cut out. Then there's the No Gameplay Changes Version which has mods removed that modify attacks and make some things overpowered, such as stretchy Wii Fit Trainer or Shulk's busted Monado arts. Mainly, the No Gameplay Changes version is if you want to try serious matches with this, and the Normal version is for everything else. Quick and important thing to note, this modpack DOES NOT WORK WITH 8 PLAYER SMASH OR ONLINE. Due to the nature and number of the mods, 8-player matches will not work, and for obvious reasons this modpack is not wifi safe. If you and a friend both install the same version of the modpack, you should be able to play in a private room though.
About the modpack
Calling all modders for help!So while I was able to put this all together, there's still some... issues with it, and I'd like to ask for the community's help. The modpack is kind of unstable, random crashes will happen often (at least they do for me). I've been unsuccessful at finding really any leads as to why or how to address this over the several months I spent on this. Each time I've tried to reach out to the Smash modding Discord for help has been met with silence as well. So I'd like to ask all of you, if you have more experience than me and think you could tackle it, hit me up and I'd love for you to work on it! This is really a modpack I want to be proud of, and this instability is the only thing holding it back now. I hope it's ok to still post this modpack with these issues, if not I'll just take it down if told to. I hope the pack can still be appreciated despite this.
See the mods in actionAs mentioned before, I run a YouTube channel where you can find these mods, and we are currently running a multi-part series featuring gameplay from this modpack. You can watch some of it right now! Links to the videos are also in the Readme in the modpack download (or the separate download).
How to install, and what mods can I find?Installation instructions are provided in the Readme and go more in depth than I'd be willing to here, so download the Readme to learn more. But honestly, my best advice to those wondering how to install mods in general is to search the tutorial sections on Gamebanana. There are many people here who understand the process far better than I do, and you will learn a lot more that way. Plus I suck at explaining it. Show the other modders some love!
FAQThese questions and answers are lifted right from the Readme, but some of them are very important up-front information, so I wanted to include them here. For more frequently-asked questions, check the section in the Readme.
Q: I'm a modder and don't approve of you using my mod.A: No worries! Just let me know and I'll remove your mod and post an update. There's over 400 unique mods in this pack that I've picked out individually, so naturally there might be a few that I missed a disclaimer on. Just be civil about it and I will create a solution as fast as I can.
Q: I'm a modder and you used my mod but didn't credit me.A: An update will be on the way! I'm really sorry if this happens, things slip through the cracks sometimes with how big this modpack is and how I'm the only person working on it. I've been far more vigilant this time with crediting every mod I add since the moment I started work on this, so cases like this should be very few if not 0, but if you do notice something like this please let me know and I will get it corrected. Just be civil about it, I'm one person working full-time and on YouTube trying to create a modpack with 400+ mods, mistakes are bound to happen.
Q: There's no model swaps in this pack, will you be doing more of those?A: Hopefully! In my free time I've been able to write a small Powershell script that creates model swaps at the press of the button, so they've never been easier to implement, and I'd love to use that script to make a new set of model swaps. The reason they aren't in this pack is due to character select portraits, the game has a soft limit on how many custom CSPs you can give to characters before the game stops loading them, and when it stops loading, you won't be able to see who you are choosing on the character select screen. I already have about 200 custom CSPs in the game, and that's close to the limit that I've been able to test. Any more and characters would start unloading! When I do end up doing model swaps though, I'll likely release a pack of them in the model swap video description, since I can't upload them to GameBanana due to them being low effort. I might release the script someday though, just know that to use the script to create model swaps you'll need to have a dump of Smash on your PC and SmashExplorer!
Aaaaaaand that's about all I got! I hope you have fun with this modpack like we did, and I hope some of you will be able to help out to make it even better in the future!
