Version 9.0- Smissmass Update & separate versions
  • Optimization Separated the Multislots and No Multislots versions in two different files.
  • Adjustment Added the taunts from Smissmass 2017 to the script.
  • Addition Added a disclaimer to the mod (It replaces the comment instructions as well)
  • Overhaul Fixed grammar errors, weird spaces etc. in the description and elsewhere.
Thanks IIEnderDragonsII, without you I don't know when I would have found out I never updated this mod to Smissmas 2017.

Anyway, I decided to separate the two versions, so now you're not forced to download the other.
I don't know much about Modboy, but I think this change makes the mod compatible with the tool.

I'm not sure though, I think a test is needed.

Version 8.1
  • BugFix Fixed the sounds in MvM scripts that had wrong directories.
  • Tweak Added the "ambient" folder to the list required folders from "hl2" in the instructions. (Added in the tutorial description as well)
A little fix right off the bat.

Custom sounds on Valve Servers and more!

It's here.

Finally, We won't have to remove all our custom sounds when we go on a Valve server anymore!
But there's more, it also allows you to use multiple weapons and taunt sounds!

HOW THIS MOD WORKS: Makes the game read almost every sound file in the whitelisted folder "vo", while also adding extra slots for some taunts and weapons for the Multislots version.

EXTRA SLOTS:
Conga, Kazotsky Kick, Square Dance, Mannrobics and Shred Alert: 3 slots
Directly from the Epic Red-Tape Recorder mod, 50 SLOTS for the Red-Tape Recorder!
Minigun stock: 3 slots for each sound
Dispenser radio: 3 slots
Custom hitsounds: 10 slots
Round won/lost/stalemate/suddendeath: 3 slots
Domination/Revenge/Nemesis: 3 slots
Sniper double kill: 3 slots
Freezecam: 6 slots
Bonk Atomic Punch: 3 slots for each sound
Boston Boom-Bringer: Added 3 slots
Class select background (even MvM): 3 slots
Explosions: 3-6 slots
Sentry Spot: 3 slots
Sandman stun: 3 slots
All Medigun heals: 3 slots
Soldier's Fanfare: 3 slots
Dueling Banjo (both fast and normal): 3 slots

IMPORTANT: This mod won't work in sv_pure 2 servers AT ALL and you won't hear any sound, so please uninstall it when you play in them.

Also, there are several sounds that are synced serverside and thus are unaffected by the mod.
Here's a list, though the sounds working and not working seem to differ between each user. 
Unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it.

    I found that some sounds get muted, and some don't work on servers. (AP Sap and Health pickups don't work and Shred Alert doesn't work on servers.) Anyway I can fix this. I found that the way to do it is to create multiple copies of the sound, I did this with the Sniper rifle as it kept cutting out. 

    Sorry if this makes no sense, I'm tired.

    Edit: Some files were missing btw, the health pickups, and door closing sounds. I'll try to find more.

    i love this mod but one question, why does the custom sounds not work in mvm?

    The only bad part about this mod is that valve lifting their toe basically throws a nuke at this mod

    That moment when you just want to update the mod but end up with your laptop bricked.
    Well, this stinks.

    I'm using a borrowed laptop right now, I'll see if I can get to fix the issues by next Monday.

    A couple typos in the most recent update.
    In game_sounds_mvm.txt:

     Several lines like vo/mvm/giant_commongiant_common_step_01.wav should be vo/mvm/giant_common/giant_common_step_01.wav

    In game_sounds.txt:

     A few lines use "qeue" where "queue" should be used, including a reference to vo/ui/mm_qeue.wav that should be referencing vo/ui/mm_queue.wav for consistency. The result of this is the sound not playing even if the path is correct because the event is mistyped.

     The event and specifics for MatchMaking.RankFiveAchieved are also absent from this script.

    In game_sounds_player.txt:

     A handful of lines referring to crocodile noises begin with vo/vo instead of just vo, and there are also a few unnecessary double slashes in those lines as well, e.g., vo/vo/ambient_mp3//lair/crocs_hiss3.mp3 should be vo/ambient_mp3/lair/crocs_hiss3.mp3

     Also, personal note: I can't seem to get any of the modded sounds to work after this update. I checked all file paths but the stock sounds still play, even on community servers without sv_pure 1. Works on my listen server, though. Nevermind. Guess I didn't realize sentry sounds are synced server-side.

    Okay, so after a lot of testing for the past week, the only two taunts that don't have sounds at all are Mannrobics and the Kazotsky Kick. Everything else works with the two sets of folders for the sounds, so I guess all that needs to be added are the scripts for the two missing taunts under the Player scripts. I'll see if I can get the scripts written out and post them on here.

    Edit: Checked the scripts, and both taunts are apparently there, so it's either server side or something else :I

    Remember when this mod used to weigh nearly half a GB because all the sounds were in the archive so it took 5 minutes for you to download it and a lot more for me to upload a new version?

    I tried getting the mod to work but I was unable to get either version to work at all. I looked at the scripts and saw that one of the taunts for Medic were not in the Player script. If you could add that script in as well, it'd be very much appreciated. The taunt is called the Surgeons Squeezebox.

    Hey DavidLink, just thought you should know. I created a Menu Music Replacer so that you can replace the main menu music of TF2 automatically with up to 26 custom music files. I'm wondering if I should spend the time to create full-on auto sound replacement using your scripts and all.
