  • Addition Made the collision on various items (tokens and emeralds for example) much more forgiving.
  • BugFix Fixed a bug that would make Resort Island not work properly if you exited the Final Boss against Eggman without beating him.
NOTE: You have to repatch a clean exe for this update.

Super Sonic Racing



This mod is my attempt at trying to improve on some of Sonic R's issues by tweaking the game in several ways.

Here is a quick rundown on some of the more major changes.

* Character physics tweaked for more control.
* Characters rebalanced so each one is generally usable.
* A final boss race against Eggman is added once Radiant Emerald is unlocked.
* Collision tweaks to some areas to improve the flow. (ex: trees in Resort Island)
* Bigger hitboxes on various items. (ex: tokens, emeralds, etc)
* Boss music is added for the boss race encounters.
* Higher quality sound effects that are better on the ears.
* Various other improvements.

Note that this isn't supposed to be some sure-fire fix to the game but if you do like Sonic R or maybe want to give it another shot then this might be something nice to try out.

Make sure you read the "Read Me" file to install it correctly. This mod is installed differently from other mods.

  • No button makes the game start. I pressed literally every button on my keyboard and my controller on the start screen and the game wouldn't start.

    Edit: I just tried configuring the controls in the standard version and then installing the mod again, but it still doesn't work.

  • What a great idea! Idk if you're taking suggestions, but I have 4 ideas:

    1. Metal Knuckles and Eggrobo races switch levels. Thematically, Metal Knuckles makes more sense in Regal Ruin and Eggrobo makes more sense in Reactive Factory (Plus the credits feature a CG pic of Eggrobo popping out of a corner in Reactive Ruin). And menu wise, Metal Knuckles is the 3rd unlockable, then Eggrobo. Why would Metal Knuckles be unlocked after Eggrobo then?

    2. Random selection of characters each race. Like there are no circumstances where a CPU Amy and any unlockable will be in the same race together, and the more characters you unlock the more other characters are permanently bumped out. Like why can't the CPUs in a race be Sonic, Eggrobo, Metal Knuckles, and Amy (assuming you picked like, Tails or something)

    3. Character texture fixes. Things like Knuckles' shoes, Eggman's creepy grin, Metal Sonic's weird eyes, things like that (I did make my own mod that at least gave Metal Sonic and Metal Knuckles better eye shape textures). Shame we don't have access to the higher res models that went unused (they showed some off on that Gamehut channel)

    4. Remove the Resort Island Jesus fish. Idk replace it with a Chao head or something but yea that's not needed.

    This is really cool! I was wondering if there was a way to turn off the character re-balancing but still have all the other improvements, to me having the characters play differently feels wrong

    Ooh, this looks nice. You've even made edits to the collision and AI files, and quite a few very useful codes too.

    I'm actually super interested in how you did some of this stuff, especially the collision and the AI. Those file formats aren't super well documented (mostly because I gave up trying to figure it out myself), so it would be super helpful if you could write what you've found out down somewhere.

    Pretty awesome mod, I loved the improvements, in some way, the physics feels kinda the same, but in other characters, there's a more noticeable buff like Amy's speed, I loved the boss music implementation and the final boss against Eggman, its awesome.

    In my opinion, they're some sound effects out of context, I tried all characters, but I noticed specifically a car sound when you skid as other characters, it's pretty cool with Amy, but with other characters... I don't like.
    Overall, it's amazing, even with those little details.

    This mod is really cool, i've made a full longplay with it, but I think for Super Sonic imprvement code it would be better if after losing evry rings we transform into Sonic and if as Sonic we have 50 rings or more we transform into Super Sonic.
