  • Adjustment Red blood decal textures are now a moderately brighter color than they were in v1.0. Thus, they now better match the blood particles in a wider range of lighting.
  • Addition Added an optional "Legacy Red Decals" addon for anyone who may prefer the old, darker look.

A stylized blood particle/texture overhaul that attempts to complement TF2’s illustrative aesthetic


Main Features

  • New blood particle effects, including for:
    • Generic blood impact effect (including underwater variant)
    • Gib blood
    • Decapitation blood
    • Saw blade/meat grinder blood
    • Special gib kill effect for the Classic
    • Skullcracker taunt blood
  • TF2TIP player gib textures by Hecates Gaspar
  • Modified gib models
    • Gib models’ blood particle attachment points have had their positions/rotations altered.
    • Silly gibs now spawn blood particle effects and leave blood decals on impact with the world (just like standard gibs).
*Note: The heart gib shown in the trailer/screenshots is NOT included in this mod. It is from N-Cognito's Meet the Medic Heart Gib mod.

  • Shiny blood decal materials! (Using cubemaps!)
  • TFC-style Classic gib kill effect!
  • Yellow version! (Including yellow variants of the above!)


Installation

Full installation instructions are included in the download’s README.txt. In short, copy and paste the .vpks of your choice to your “custom” folder in your TF2 directory.

  • To folks experiencing glitches with the blood decals' lighting on models (i.e., decals appearing far too bright/too dark and/or "flickering" on certain props), I think the bug has to do with some console variable (though I don't know which one or why yet). I suspect so because when I run the game with mastercomfig's Ultra preset configs, the bug is quite blatant. But when I run the game without said configs, the bug is almost nonexistent. Thus, I assume mastercomfig might be setting some convar to an unusual value, which then allows the glitch to occur.

    Like I said, I haven't isolated the exact convar responsible yet, though I'm going to try some more troubleshooting. I welcome any ideas or suggestions from folks who might know more about this sort of stuff than I do.

    For now, I've noticed that using mat_reloadallmaterials after loading a map sometimes fixes the bug, but the fix doesn't always seem to persist across map changes.

    I tried to run this in Open Fortress but it simply crashes everytime I do so.
    Do you think you could possibly make a fix for that in the near future?

    The wound decals cuts off a lot and sometimes even shows up in a grid, despite only being shot once. I never see these issues with default blood.

    Can you PLEASE fix the "shiny blood ad-don" EVERYDAY i have to go into my custom folder and REPLACE THE FILE, even then sometimes i join a custom server, AND instead of ONE BLOOD DECAL, ITS JUST LIKE 20 DECALS THAT ARE SMALL AND IN THE SAME SPOT, AND SOMETIMES ITS JUST MISSING TEXTURES!, can you PLEASE FIX THE DECALS

    An issue with the mod I have been seeing is blood texture color changing (dependant on lighting) when blood is applied on specific props.
