Red Planet contest - MAP Updated***

Map entry for Red Planet contest

*** I believe this is the last update before the releasing and dead line, the map is almost done, and optimized enough I guess(no leaks, nodraw etc.)

I would like to ask you for your opinion about the hydroponics... I added the sort of fog, to add the wet air feeling, but tell me, if it's good or bad...

Also I had to use the original plant models for the hydroponics, because I wont be able to learn and make my own ones in 8 days ***

Hello, this is my entry for Red Planet contest

So far I made basic shape of the map and some modeling/texturing in entrance room (on the screenshots), map is going to be big, bomb/defuse for counter strike: source

I choosed rather clean texture design and the map takes place in the future on the mars base.

Map will have - 2 bomb sites - HDR - 32 ct / 32 t spawns - custom textures / custom models - (hopefully) radar

Now I just hope I will finish it on time...

Update*** -> I made a little video showing how the lighting affects my and anyones work

basic shapes ... 100%

detailing ... 90%

optimization ... 80%

Soon I will be looking for beta testers, if you'd like to try out my map add me on steam

    Well in the end the map were way too big + it had a few bugs, but yeah, I might convert it in to cs:go, just not anytime soon

    Thank you, I hope it won't let you down... I guess I should have put more thoughts in the layout, since I would change some things, but then again, there is not really enough of time... I guess we'll see

    There is a lot of tutorials on the internet and it is really a lot about your experience and basic knowledge of how photoshop works... Like i said, add me & I'll quickly show you the basics... sort of a basic point which from you can start learning / experimenting on your own...

    Thats funny! I was gonna add a room like your last screen shot, with plants grass and trees as like a earth appreciation room, good thing i didnt. Looking good though, I need to learn how to make my own textures like you so i can quit working around what valve gives me...

    Add me in your friends if you want my help with textures, I dont mind passing my knowledge to other people... About the room, I knew about it from beginning, I just didn't quite get to it before today... anyway this hydroponic is acctually suposed to create fresh air, which is pumped in to the whole complex (that's why it's one of the terrorists target), what you can see on the picture is not a final version though...

    Texturing looks nice and farily unique to CS:S maps... its hard to tell but if you're using selfillum textures then maybe consider making some of them rad textures to enhance the actual lighting. I would consider changing the floor textures, it looks like one of those high-contrast small-detail kind of textures that doesnt mip to well.

    Otherwise, pretty damn good.

    Thank you, I will consider it, althrough a lot of stuff is going on right now, my school just started and I am truly frightened I will be finishing this map really close to the dead line, since I have like 4 free hours a day right now...
