Bunker/base themed zombie map

zm_scrutiny

  • Project has been brought back to the designing board!

A new bunker/base themed zombiemod map in the works. So far, I've spent almost two months creating this map. It should be finished within a couple of weeks.

My goal with this map is to bring dynamic content to zombiemod maps. Meaning, that stuff will happen when players run around the map. There are a few cool things in the map already that make me excited. Lets just say, that the CTs will be brought to this map in a unique way.

What is there still to be done? Well, I've got plenty of optimizing to do for starters. Most of the map is still pitch black and some props are behaving wrong. Also, there are still lots of areas that have nothing in them. My goal is to add as much detail to the map as possible. That's why I'm not gonna release it before I feel it's ready.

If you have any ideas for me, please feel free to post them below. However, I have a specific direction where I want to take this map, so I don't promise your suggestions will be added.

I will update this further as soon as there is something be to updated.

i hope u can add some fog (for a low amount of course, not like csgo in which the fog effects overkill and obstruct the visibility) to the map so the props that are further away look realistic.

i didn't really trust this method until i fully implemented it, u can see my "experiment" here: http://archer.gamebanana.com/img/ss/maps/_30346-.jpg

    and here: http://imageshack.us/f/823/31752994.jpg/

another tip of mine is about the lighting, somehow i like creepy and dark-ish maps, i think u can do that to and make the atmosphere awesome.

in my opinion, the light sources look legit (lights are meant to be bright, duhhh....) but env_environment looks a bit "too bright" as there is not much contrast.

thus...just set the brightness of env_environment lower and see how that would go...

this one is a good example of what i was talking about http://archer.gamebanana.com/img/ss/maps/108782f.jpg

the combination between the texture and the lighting is just brilliant, so here is the thing, brightness and contrast :P

just my personal opinion, but i hope u will take them into your consideration.

Thanks for the feedback. I have decided to bring this map back to the designing board. My plan is to delete about 70% of the map. I think I have made several bad design choices that make the map bad. Because of this, I'm pushing the release back for at least another 2 months. Stay tuned! :)
