CS:S Stealth

This is going to be probably a new mg_map. As they don't have a section on fpsbanana for stealth based CS:S maps/games. Anyway, this map is based on stealth, the idea is to get to the otherside without being seen (what else). It contains, guards, lasers, sensors, sentry's, cameras, trip lines, claymores, and other nice surprises. This is a map that if you rush through, you will die. I have managed to develop ways of getting guards to see you, react to you being there, and killing you. :D, lets say, for a test of skill in a map no bigger than 512x512. We had some fun trying to get pass him. Lets say, when he is yawning, try to go past him will wake him up and make him hit you. Quite fun to say the least. Anyway, i have a guard that looks, but he is only looking one way atm, hopefully, in a later version, i will make a guard that patrols and turns around. So even more fun. Also got some cameras, these cameras come in a few flavours, i got fixed postion cameras, and cameras that rotate to view a corridor or room. These will have different skins depending on what is it, some will be armoured, and other not, so you will have to look and see whether you can destroy it or sneak past it.

I'm up to now developing sensors, these are simple things, they will be invisisble to the naked eye, the only way to know they are there are with tell tail signs that will be round, but it won't be easy, not going to be a block on the wall so it's instant see, it will blend in, so you will have to look and be cautious. Also, in this test map, i am working on claymores, now these will be almost invisible to the naked eye, but with nightvision goggles on, they will light up enabling you to safely traverse the way. Still trying to figure it out, just a little more time and i'll hopefully crack it.

That is how far i'm up to, i got a few test traps done and set up. I also has the start of the map made, it's going to freeze you in place for 20sec while it showes a slideshopw and a clip of the coarnal's (can't spell) voice from MGS is played. Then it's onto the elevator where you will go up, then almost at the top, you will black out and be transported.

Either, you will be trasported straight to the game, or, i tempting to make a 10 sec clip of you flying in a plane through the air to your destination. Kinda like a mini movie type of thing.

Anyway, this is how far i'm up to, still need to finish making and testing all the traps, then an elaborate place to play it on. Probably a abandon facility (not abandoned, so cliches i kno.. ah fuck it there on an island)

I hope you will enjoy it when it's finished, it's almost killing me :/

Update1: I have decided to get them to start outside in the jungle. From there you will have to infiltrate the building. It will be heavily guarded, also, the jungle will also be trapped. They don't want you there.

The screenshot shows the start as circle area, then you have to run around, several ways to do that, not shown, then across the bridge, water and in.

Update2: The outside outline has been completed. All the main rock walls are done. I also added the bunker doors to get in. Soon i will add a 3D skybox as it looks a little plain as it is. I will hopefully adding the bridge and the overlay for the road.

After i added the road, trees, shrubs, more rocks, decals, displaced floor and alpha painting. Hopefully, i have it finished by the end of the week.

Update3: Alright, the bridge and the bunker area is done. It no longer looks like a portal to no where. The bridge has also been added, it's simple but i believe it looks effective. Judge for yourself.

I have now also displaced all the floors now, so it's not some boring old flat ground. There is now simple alpha painting around each of the rocks, gives it a better feel, not all just one plain texture. Anyway, thats done, oh yes, i changed the sand texture, it was too dark in the end, so i got a light one and blended some grass in, i also added water barriers as sleepers, these are mostly to cover up fail sewing, but of well, i think they look good.

Update4: Added a 3D skybox, looks alot better now imo, also starting to add shrubs and all that for detail/ One problem is the lighting on the river, it gone really dark for some reason, i'll find out why and fix it. But yer, it's coming along nicely now.

    Umm, i'm just editing this one over and over. Pressing the Add WiP doesn't work, so i just edit this. Unless you mean adding wip from start, umm go to devhub>wips>addwip. I'm not too sure what you are asking.

    The idea is stealth yes, like MGS, but different maps and stuff. So yer, is based on MGS. But I fail at mapping, so new maps :P. Yer, i should do it in HL2, if i decide to make a mod on it. ATM, it's just a map for minigame, to stop the boring process of having the same maps repeated.
