Some Tips to avoid major mistakes

Hello Folks, When I play in Battlefield 2142 with the scout-kit, I noticed, that most of the other scouts make some fatal mistakes and end up as prey, rather than being a threat. So, I want to give you some Tips and advises to avoid such mistakes and become more efficent scouts for you and your Team. Before we get started, let's make one thing clear: Snipers are not an offensive class. Your role is to support your team with coverfire and spot major threats like tanks or gunships. [title]1. Choose your Equipment[/title] Now, what kind of tools you take is up to you. That will allways depend on the situation. I for myself take the APMs and RDXs with me, in case I want to lay a trap. If you follow my advises, you wont need any of these Equipments. One thing, i must say, the Zeller H "Advanced" Sniperrifle is a complete waste (in my opinion). You only have 3 shots per clip, you still need 2 bodyshots to kill a person with full bodyarmor and most of the players don't even use light bodyarmor. The only good part of the Zeller: You can destroy APMs and RDX but I don't face them, when I'm a Scout-Sniper. Stick to the Zeller, if you want, but i recommend you let it rust in the corner. [title]2. Positions[/title] Like I said before, Snipers are not offensive. Where ever there is a Fight, keep some distance from the Frontline. This is an example for PAC Snipers. If you are in the Frontline or even behind Enemy Lines, chances are very high you get shot or even stabbed. [subtitle]Another thing[/subtitle] Rooftops, Towers and Railroads ... avoid them. Those are the first Locations, where I and other Players look at, if there is gunfire from a Sniperrifle and in 80% of the time, you get killed very fast. Sure, you've got a real good view on the Battlefield, but you also expose yourself to other Snipers and there is not much cover on such artificial higher grounds. Instead, use natural higher grounds whenever it's possible, like hills. That way, you can run away easy and hide, once you get spotted. Also, you avoid fast detection, because only a few assume Snipers on lower grounds. [title]3. Be mobile[/title] Real-Life Snipers are trained to stay at one Spot for hours, days or even weeks but in Battlefield 2142 it is dangerous to keep your position for a long time. The worst-case-scenario for a sniper is that hostile-forces allready know where he's heading and kill him right away. But even, if the enemy doesn't know right now, he will know it, sooner or later and you should allways keep in mind that it will be sooner. Once you shoot someone, regardless if you kill him or not, you better prepare yourself to leave the spot soon and look for a new position because the enemy could have heared your shot or spotted you. At the latest, you should take another position if you get shot or even killed. I popped alot of Sniper-heads, because they allways return to their last position (most of the time on towers), just to find me. Even if you don't get spotted, change your position because, sometimes it's important to look for targets from other angles. Sometimes, this technique is also very usefull when you are in a direct firefight with other Snipers. When you have a shootout with other Snipers and you see, that they duck and cover only for short times to reload and never leave their spot, you should better hide yourself and then go flank them. Works for me, everytime. Thats it for now. I hope you can use these advises from me and avoid unnecesarry deaths. If you like this Tutorial, please give me a comment / feedback. I'll make some more and I also will work on a Tutorial-Video for a better portrayal.

Pros: I like your idea to express your thoughts, making a tutorial for newbies, but also you should understand that snipers ARE NOT ONLY supports, they also can be very offesive if used properly, for example, if you go with your squad in the leading position, you can shot-out/damage other players/bots so you will make it easier to win/own for your squad
Cons: I didn't like 1st screenshot, that it is in GERMAN language, this is English ONLY site, so you should take screenshoots in english version of the game. Other thing is that you said that you should/have to avoid rooftops, towers, why? it's not always that bad, because you use them against the enemy, for once or twice if you are skillful sniper. No information given on close fight with sniper, if someone flanks you, or you get too close to enemy.
Improvements: *Read Cons* you should understand everything that you need to improve

Who gives a fuck on the language of a screen shot? It's purpose and function is to illustrate the point and if you're that pedantic then perhaps you should spend more time at uncyclopedia.

I pretty much don't care about this, as long as other players stop making those major mistakes.
Professional Snipers don't do crap like camping on rooftops for half an hour and return there, everytime they got killed.
But the Fact is, there is maybe one out of 20 who is professional.
I'm not professional.
I lack of a calm hand and better aim to be professional.
Every second shot is hitting and only
one out of three shots is a headshot, can proof it ;-)
Yet, I still die fewer than other Snipers.

I explained it more than once, that it will allways depend on the situation.
You still can be offensive, but that is not the purpose of Snipers.
Take a look at the engineers. Their main purpose is Anti-Vehicle and the SMG is only for Self-defense in Close Combat. They are not suited for an intense firefight against Assault-Medics or Support-Gunners.
That goes for Snipers too.

Snipers in a team have the advantge of Back-up from other players, but most of the Snipers, I found are Lone Wolfs or way behind their team.
Go ahead, try CQB as a lone Sniper and count the seconds you are still alive.
There is allways the chance, somebody flanks and gets close to you, but with my tutorial, the chances are smaller.

Of course, you can still use towers, but only when necessary and only for a short time.

Why do you have a problem with the first screenshot ? What do you want to read there ?
You know the text and it is only for visual aid, how I play the Sniper.
If I would have an improtant text in it, I would make the effort to get a screenshot in english.

Last, but not Least:
I WILL GO INTO MORE DETAILS AND EXAMPLES IN MY VIDEO.
I WILL GIVE ADVISES AND EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC SITUATIONS IN MY VIDEO.

This written tutorial is not based on specifc situations, but on main FACTS.
Any other Fact requires something, either Team-members or specific Equipment.

thats why u get lower asses ;)

Of Course, this all depends on which map you play and how you want to play. If you are in a squad, go with them but keep a little distance. The same goes with the Frontline, go with it but keep your distance.
Close range combat is not advisable, because you don't have a chance against someone with an assault-rifle.
I'm going to be more detailed about this and give some proper examples in my tutorial video, so stay tuned ... if you want. ;-)

@TheMustacheHero
Yeah, I know.
When it comes to a bigger text, my english gets worse with every sentence.
Be glad, that it is still readable for other people. :o)

This all seems like fairly basic stuff to me but I know a lot of players for some reason like to camp up on top of buildings and towers so this should be useful for many people. Some advice on the actual shooting, leading, etc. would add a lot to this. This is a useful tutorial for the long range snipers who like to set-up and wait but not so much for people who like medium-close range.

Also, just because sniper is a support class it doesn't mean they can't be offensive. In my opinion snipers are more valuable travelling with the squad instead of behind it.
