Note: I originally posted the tutorial here but it was unorganized so I'm posting a link to the tutorial download instead. 

This tutorial will cover the process of getting a custom model ready to import into Smash 4 3ds. You don't need to be an expert at 3d modeling but you should be a little familiar with how to use 3ds max (or blender if you decide to use that).

Requirements:

3ds Max
Blender (optional)
an Image editing program
smb123w64gb's version of Ohana 3ds Rebirth

    I wish there's a noob-friendly guide about this.
    I have so many problems with Blender like how to assign objects to the bone, or how to duplicate models with different textures, or how to do mapping, and so on.

    I tried looking for answers to do model import without the use of 3rd-party apps and only depend on 3DSMax, but it doesn't work as other models are visible or invisible either during a harmless taunts or 1 frame of attack.
    I just wanted to make a single model import like Mario Odyssey Hat.

    I was looking for the ones currently available on the Wii U, which is Link, Zelda, Sheik, Linkle (over link), and Cia (over Palutena).

    I might try it after I finally get a low poly Chun-li model so I can try to port it over Ryu. Which models were you hoping for specifically?

    No need to worry about the second part; I managed to use the program. But now my model's crashing the game... It's definitely the model, too. I'm gonna keep playing around with it.

    PSA to everyone using blender:  before you merge meshes, go into edit mode on your desired mesh, select all [A], and remove doubles[look on the toolbox on the left]. After you join the objects, you can make them overlap and easily select your desired mesh by hovering the cursor over it and pressing [L].
    Ohana exports with extra vertices, so that's why you have to remove doubles first.

    Also I'm getting something kind of weird with my current ZSS model. Side note before I show my current model, it still crashes on c00 so I put it over h00 to see this.

    http://m.imgur.com/UeH4yZf Both of the models in the game are mostly gone except for the little bit you can see on the left. The same thing happens with my Ghirahim model.

    update: Fixed the first bug, now the models never seem too big and the face, hands, possibly eyes, and possibly mouth show up. But it still only works as h00 even though it's the low poly model
