If you followed my previous tutorial, you already know how to decompile Source models. This time we're going to slap a model onto a different set of animations using 3DS Max. I intend to cover assigning materials and other extras in a bonus video, so look for that here as well.

    - I cant fully select my arms, It only selects tiny wire frame boxes and it is very hard to select my arms with out selecting some of the pistol. Is that because thats the way my model is, or do I have to go somewhere to connect my arm attachments before I move on to element and start selecting and deleting?

    How come I can't select any vertices when weighting the individual parts? I clicked on edited envelopes, checked vertices, and checked Select Element.

    Another problem with the arms this time.

    I'm using BowerRanger's animations for the five-seven, his Colt animations.

    And now I have this problem.

    Instead of that, put $origin 0 0 0 -90 at the very beginning of the QC (or after the CD line). Does the exact same thing. Decompiled models get rotated 90 degrees, so this rotates them back. :P

    I'm not exactly sure as to where to put this, but I'll try to figure it out.

    try adding rotate -90 before all the fps like this:

    $sequence cancel "cancel" ACT_VM_CANCEL 1 snap rotate -90 fps 30.00

    If its for l4d or newer source engine game you have to define all the bones in the animations. also make sure the model turns red when you select the bone you skinned to.

    Is this for Max 12? If it is you need to download a hotfix for the skin modifier. Get it here Your welcome
