Right, they don't offer two-factor authentication or anything - which most major email providers additionally offer two-factor authentication. This adds up to about 4 layers of security you could apply to a Steam account.
We understand that you carelessly lost your Steam account. A password authenticated account is only as secure as you personally made it. Which apparently, wasn't secure at all.
