Speed modeling Contest #1! Build your GAMING RIG!

By An Aggressive Napkin 4 years ago

Ok guys, As I troll around various video game forums, such as Game Artists, I see speed modeling and texturing contests. Since I am known around here more for my modeling skills, and I haven't seen one of these kind of competitions on FPSB, I thought hell, why not bring one here?

As for prizes, this competition DOES NOT have one. This is purely for you to use to get better at speed modeling or just modeling in general. Basically this is a timed contest. From the time you turn on 3ds max, Maya, Milkshape, or whatever program you are using, The clock starts and you will model. Don't worry about unfair judging either. The COMMUNITY IS JUDGING. I have no part in the judging, nor do any admins. This is a purely fun contest to increase your knowledge of the program you use.

Anyways, to get to the point, The Theme for this week of speed modeling will be for you to create your VERY OWN GAMING RIG! This can have anything you want in it from the desk, to the printer, to the monitor, to the trashcan, to the Random analog tv you have sitting next to you, to the cellphone, to the Binders, wacom, mouse or even, old water bottles you have lying around. This does not have you be yours, It can be your dream rig too! (who's gonna know either)

Read the rules you that you don't get disqualified also.

FOR THIS CONTEST YOU WILL HAVE 90 MINUTES TO COMPLETE YOUR MODEL! NO UV MAPS REQUIRED!

R U L E S !

* Bear in mind each of these challenges has a time limit, which does change with each challenge, so make sure to check the time limit. If you exceed the time limit, your entry will be disqualified. Please do not lie about how long it took you to make your model, as the reasoning behind the time limit is primarily to help you improve your speed and efficiency at modeling. If you reach the end of the time limit, and have not finished your model, we encourage you to enter your unfinished work as is.

* Please include your final time within the image you submit, as well as poly count and your username.

* You have to submit a render of your model. Preferably your image should contain a shaded and also a wireframe version of your model. Viewport Grabber will definitely help.

* Models must not be textured.

* Competitions will end at 06:00 Eastern Standard Time, on the date specified in the threads title.

* Multiple Entries are allowed.

* Generally, challenges will not have a polygon limit, however a limit may be imposed for certain challenges, so make sure to check challenge specific rules.

*** Rules taken from game-artist.net

When you have finished your object, put all of the required things for entry into a WIP and send me the link via private message.

Good luck!

Posted by Zippit So you have a week for a 90min job. And no one can check it? Good job!

Its for people who actually want to get better. Maybe if you knew anything about modeling, then you wouldn't be such a dick here.In the industry you have to work under pressure and 90 mins is a pretty short time in modeling times. The week is for people that don't have time one day, but have time the other day. The point is you model for 90 mins and show us what you have come up with and you see who is better. More like a friendly competition.

They're like this at other forums too, of course you CAN cheat but what's the point in cheating when there's no reward?
