No longer get lost in Pyro spam!

We all know Pyros, you always see their flame before you see them, whether it be around a corner, through a door, or spinning around in a clutter of friends and enemies. Your only solution to this problem was to either go with your gut, or download a mod that replaces the fire with garish red and sickening blue-green hues (no offense, Funsize)...

...UNTIL NOW!

Introducing: Realistically Colored Team-Color Fire Colors!

I noticed that in a number of places, Valve substituted BLU's light yellows with RED's more oranger yellows in a number of places, so I took this same design concept and applied it to the Pyro's fire.

I made this a while back for my own convenience, and now it's yours!

Works on any server! sv_pure 1, sv_pure 2, you name it! Guaranteed or your money back!

Appropriate crit fire is included.

-------------------------------------

Just to clear something up, this is not a cheat. This mod does nothing but enhance team identifiability, which Valve has said multiple times that it is one of their highest priority for people to know which team people are on. All this mod does is ensure you catch that glimpse of RED or BLU color. It doesn't give anyone an edge, it just prevents you from thinking your teammates are enemies - it does not effect your recognition of actual enemies, as all fire is initially thought to be enemy anyway. The only way it could hurt enemy pyros is if they think you are foolish enough to blindly waltz right into any flames you see, assuming they are all on your team.

For those wondering about the Rainblower particle effects, I took it upon myself to make an update for this mod on behalf of the creator: http://tf2.gamebanana.com/sprites/5425

First of all, half of them were normal skins that gave you no "edge" over the others. Second of all, you must be retarded if you think it gives you an "edge". Third of all, by trying to drag like 10 other skins down the shitter with you

My point is that this skin is no different from any of those others and that LordTrilobite's argument could be applied to just about anything else. My intention was never that the other skins be trashed, I was trying to draw attention to how ridiculous a notion it is that higher team recognition can be ruled out as a cheat when it's a common feature of many other skins and particles. But since people seem to think people are stupid enough to actually disapprove of those mods because of this, I'll be taking that list down, because as I think I noted up there, that is not at all my intention with that list.

I think it's really childish of you that you come with the "He did it too!" arguement, that doesn't make this mod any less wrong.
Fact remains that this mod will impair other pyro's ambush abilities because the user of this mod will have knowledge the attacking pyro doesn't.

The medics and engineers are bad examples because you can and did disprove them on a technicality. My point with the list was that there are skins that make the classes and the other team more recognizable, and they don't give you any more of an edge than team colored fire.

The only way the attacking pyro would be hurt by this mod is if he was using his flames from spots to make the enemy team think that the flames are from a friendly pyro. There's absolutely no point to that, it would be better for them just to not shoot any flames at all when preparing for an ambush. The only pyros this mod hurts are pyros that shoot their flames from behind cover, but I cant think of anyone stupid enough to walk right into flames without knowing who they belong to, and the only time they will gain this ability to positive effect is when the pyro is on their team, then they can be sure those flames are friendly and they can pass without being afraid of their own team (which was never intended to be a part of gameplay, hence why friendly fire is off). When the fire is of the opposing team's color, business carries out as usual, people are afraid of the fire around the corner.

As for granting players "knowledge the attacking pyro doesn't [have]", I cant think of any case where a pyro thinks their flames are friendly. The above tactic with firing behind doors never works on anyone, and I've only seen it happen a few times and it was because they were defending against spies, not trying to lure people into a trap (which they could be doing better by not spouting fire at all - I usually lie in wait with my axe equipped). Being confused with friendly pyros is not a part of the pyro's ambush strategy.

The color change is merely a minor benefit for teammates in easier identifying friendly pyros, it does not effect identification of enemy pyros, as all pyro fire is assumed to be enemy at first glance anyway.

When I have glow-in-the-dark medics installed, I am able to see medics far easier in dark light than someone who does not have it installed. The other team gains no such advantage, because they cannot see my glow in the dark blutsauger because they don't have the mod installed. When I have engineer team-colored helmets installed, I can easily see which engineers ducking behind cover are mine, and which are of the opposing team. Same thing applies, no matter what crazy skin I have, they see me the same as always. There is no such thing as "modifying the skins equally", as everybody has different skins installed, and if mine are bright and colorful, I will always have the advantage over someone who has darker skins.

By your logic, a wallhack that make everyone on both teams visible through walls are fair because both teams are visible, but you fail to recognize that seeing your own team through walls does not give the other team an advantage, as they don't have the wallhacks installed. Just like if I installed a skin that made the spy's head invisible, it does not make it hard for enemy snipers to headshot me.

Every skin that increases visibility gives you an unfair advantage over someone who doesn't have the skin. I stand by my argument that if Valve didn't want people to mod these files, they would have protected it like they did burningplayers.pcf.

Generally, there aren't many dark areas in TF2 that medics would hide in. And the only moments medics will try to hide is when healing someone, thus not having the blutsauger equiped. When they do have the blutsauger equiped they will generally be in the midst of battle, rendering any glow in the dark pretty much redundant.

As for the engies, I did not think of that. Being the same kind of issue as with this mod, you can see which belongs to which faster, however. This matters less for the engie since he is no ambush class and will generally be camping behind his buildings, which are pretty obvious to which they belong. There are also not many good camp spots for an engie where the helmet will stick out, this is also because spots with low cover are generally not that good for camping.
Thus, that engie mod might be slightly unfair, but not nearly in the degree as this one.

And the wallhack comparison is just rediculous. Using wallhacks is cheating.
This, is more like bending the rules a little too far.

I think it's really childish of you that you come with the "He did it too!" arguement, that doesn't make this mod any less wrong.

This skin is fine. If you are a scout and you see the opposing team's fire, chances are you can't take the pyro if he is in, let's say, the area below the battlements in 2Fort unless you have a buddy to fight with you.
I don't see much of an edge here. You just get to see the enemy a few seconds earlier.
No one talk to me about the fact that maybe "Oh a few second is life or death!" Just don't.
Mostly skins are supposed to make the game more pleasant.
If you would look at the pyro's fire skin/sprite that turns it into a Propane thrower for example.
It makes the game more awesome to look at and the Hadouken looks great. But you loose an edge with visibility if you want to spot pyro flames because it's somewhat transparent.
As for glow in the Dark stuff, that is cheap. If you can't play with a class before the "Hacky" skins were in your game, you don't need to play that class. Practice makes perfect!
(I'd feel guilty If I typed this much and didn't assess so here yah go.)
