    Before i start, i must express the importance of being realistic and fair.
    now, i could follow the flow here and rate it 10 because thats just what we do - but what will you learn from that?
    I'm not doing this to 'take you down a peg', be mean/elitist/asshole or anything like that, i just mean to give you a reality-check so you can better yourself from it.

    uh, starting with the model - it belongs in 2002. It lacks the fundamental shape, detail and accuracy to be concidered anything else than mediocre.
    You're probably going to ask for this anyways, so here's a checklist on stuff i can spot from just the screenshots that are wrong:
    general shape of the outer chamber 'cylinders'
    functionality of the bolt
    rear sight diopter
    shape of the SF switch (safety)

    On to the detail aspect of this.
    Model-wise i can't really see any. Either they remain untextured, or they're simply not there.
    I've been looking at the flat you posted further down here, and honestly the only detail i can see at all is the SF markings, an indicator line on the SF switch, and the indent going along the outer chamber.

    The base texture is quite good. its the right brightness, and the damage you did to the upper cylinder of the reciever is pretty good. However when you leave half of the map unskinned, no color, sloppy shadows, AO-errors left unfixed and unskinned, it screams WORK IN PROGRESS.

    Now, some people might call me a psychic, but before you start waving the "well what the hell do you know about weapons anyways" stick, I spent roughly a year training with an ag3***, firing over 20.000 rounds with it, dismantling every piece humanly possible and putting it all back countless times. I know this weapon like my penis knows my palms.

    ***an ag3 is basically a g3 with a different foregrip and stock, slight alterations to the rate of fire, and magazine to compensate.

    Honestly, baftub's was not even a good criticism. His texture was cloudy as fuck.

    Not only that, but that example is in no way helpful to a G3. that is just a random square example of a metal that looks nothing like a G3, so yeah.

    instead of the flat gray. The detail could significantly be improved by using the dodge and burn to mimic lighting, like in this texture I made a while back with a low opacity set of grunge brushes to add some extra detail.

    This has dodge/burns on it, grunge, and phong - which you would know if you saw the textures and normals.
