Posted by Doctor Medic MeeM Sweet Jesus, what's up with that flow of stolen content lately? I know, some of dem reuploaders got permissions (SOME.), but most of them just stuff it here, and optionally delete "DO NOT REUPLOAD TO GAMEBANANA" or something from the readme files.

People should not have to put "DO NOT REUPLOAD TO GAMEBANANA", there should simply be a rule in GB that if an Admin/Moderator or User wishes to redistribute someone else's work on GB they should first ask permission from the original author(s) and if they allow it, then they can post.

In this case its TF2 workshop items, as mods, so if they got in the game, then that rule would not apply, at least for mods of an ingame item.

I am waiting for Natko's answer on if he has permission from the original authors to post these items.

    Edit:

Talked to SVDL, and no, Natko didn't ask permission, though he just apologized to SVDL (he didn't really care anyways since he was credited & workshop link)

Glad that's resolved, so hopefully next time an admin or any user posts work from other authors, they'll ask permission before they post :)

    Cheers

No I did not report him, why should I? I did report the items submissions though. He is an Admin and he didn't reply when I asked if he has permissions to repost these skins.

I meant to say to report the submissions

Clearly if that admin or others admins are doing their job they should already be aware of the situation.

There isn't only just admins, There is also mods, It's not like they have access to everything, Some only has access to idea section, sprays section, etc.

I am not that much concerned of these respots since these aren't my work, its up to the authors to take action.

    Alright then.

And yes, I have the right to rate all these unauthorized reposts 1/10 if I want to.

Clearly you're only supposed to use ratings for how it looks like/quality, Not how reposted it is...

Why would the reposter even care about ratings? he didn't create the entry, I am just rating 1/10 since the repost that was not authorized by the original author.

    Ditto.

As I said, just sending a message since the admins, and of course the admin itself who reposted the items without persmissions, seem to be ignoring the situation.

Maybe there might be other admins/mods help you. I guess, Dunno.

Posted by Quinsicut Excuse me bud, I removed the (s) because he was the only who's redistributing content without permission.

Also, I know that it's ironic for an administrator to do that. But that doesn't grant you to spam 1/10 ratings all over submissions, Did you reported him anyways?

Posted by Quinsicut "I do not wish to have my mods hosted here anymore.
Intrusive ads, admins uploading skins without asking permissions from the original authors etc"

That's coming from only one admin man, Not more than that.

Also, Was it ever necessary to spam 1/10 ratings? That's coming from only one admin man, Not more than that.

You realize that its actually AN admin submitting skins of other TF2 contributors without their explicit permission, which is quite ridiculous and pathetic, what kind of admin does that?

Furthermore its not a matter of how many admins or regular users do it, clearly the rest of the admins do not care and aren't doing anything about these unauthorized reposts.

If it was a regular user doing it, I would have reported it to an admin, since its an admin I aksed on his profile, he didn't reply, he has no proof that he was authorized to post these skins in gamebanana.

The issue here is that he is clearly trying to drive traffic and perhaps generate more revenue through ads by reposing other's people work (that was never posted here, for a reason) and he hasn't asked for permission.

And yet, the license (i.e. http://puu.sh/8GNHv/9db8fef048.png) on these reposted skins states that you need to ask permission to redistribute it as if the repost by this admin is taking ownership of it, wtf.

Its not a matter of being "just one admin" but also the others clearly not being concerned by these practices of gamebanana.

As for the rating, they can anyways reset it, in fact they already have, I am just sending a message, what they are doing is not right nor okay.

They should ask for permissions to repost other's people work, this is common sense that an admin should have. Moreover since GB is a monetized website and in this case its an admin resposting work without the original's author consent, it seems quite shady.
