Oh, and another thought but with the thread releases perhaps include only a short teaser blurb and link to a studio page submission with the full faction text, or the PDF link in the SVN files. This will allow anyone in the concept department to edit and make changes on the fly as any spelling/grammar is caught without needing to modify the thread.
Yup, More along the lines of the last thread where we get peoples opinions and then weighed them ourselves and tweak things privately in the studio, (Thread Example).
There would be no guarantees that anything said would be included because that would just be ridiculous heh. Just a "Here's what we've come up with, what are your thoughts, things you like/don't like or maybe things we didn't consider". Sometimes there will be a rare gem that hits home with the dev team, most will be random given the community here.
Doing the doc releases in bits will allow us to potentially apply any changes from ideas we get from the community or from talks with the community between the releases: rather than try one giant update immediately...
On the topic of the Design doc, I've gone through it twice to make edits that I write down between readings but I've still got 1-2 major sections to be re-written from scratch. Aside from that it would be cleaning up and touch-ups to match current info.

I had some thoughts about how we can go about releasing the info; rather than doing all the faction info all at once we can spread it out over the course of several weeks. Each release would be a new thread. One/week till there are none left to post.
I'm hoping to have free time to really dig into the GDD but holding down two jobs and keeping tabs here is a handful. Suffice to say I don't think it'll be ready for a proper public release given we're switching engines and can go over some of our features again and see what we can add back in and what limits we no longer need in place etc.
Studio threads will not be repaired till long after the new layout is applied - it's nothing major, just some fixes and colour changes so far but the latest revisions show promise :D Any info from thread bodies can be recovered by switching /view/ into /edit/. Feel free to make txt backups in the svn if needed.
Since studio threads may be down a while, I was thinking about approaching the public forums in a similar way as to the faction releases. Each week we bring up one of the features/concepts of the game to the community/team for discussion and work out the details. Then edit the thread with the new topic for a while and repeat.
Lastly, since message posting on studios is disabled atm, feel free to use my profile as a dumping ground for our conversations heh. I've posted this message on everyones profile and hope to get back to some of you in "my" morning and the rest later.

I've finished my revisions and public versions of all writeups. I've also taken a look through the GDD and fixed some stuff.
Two things:
Whenever this public release comes I plan to encourage the release of the seperate files for each writeup for easier reading (public versioned). I suggest that the subheadings for each faction be replaced by a small faction summary and a reference to the external file made. Same thing for the Apollyon and timeline.
I noticed the Revised storyline summary box was empty and how little information people outside have on storyline. I wrote a quick POV dialogue which might make a nice little teaser for the release and maybe the GDD. Depending on your feedback I could slot it into the Revised Story Concept slot of the GDD or leave it as is. Here you go
Wish I could get some more Key Concepts done but due to studio threads glitches that's at a stand still. I also removed the Client Side Hosting Concept. It's a really nice one so I don't want to disappoint when we can't deliver. Semp told me it's not possible without large server support which we obviously don't have. I also added a little addition to the Appendix stating the plans to use assets from the model section as bases for further weapons (possibly as placeholders)

Just thought I'd update you.
I'm still on that GDD. I'm nearly finished the Apollyon writeup, we can hand out a proper description now. I still have to do a clearup of the UGDT-EU relations as is being shown by the need to clarify aspects. After that just gotta take a look through them all and make sure it's all clear, I've spent a lot of time on these and I intend them to be correct, timeline is my biggest concern.
I'm close, I still need more time though.
I'll get some flack for it later :P Just kinda fun for the moment heh.

I feel the Apollyon section needs serious review, there's still a lot more to be cleared up to make it make sense.
And Dai feels quite strongly on the PCoE as I did on the Association's interaction with their employees. These are important facets that make the faction unique, I don't think we can miss this stuff.
I have an exam on Thursday but I'll do my best to get it done soon, I'll throw in that name translation too :)
Just in case the Concept Dept delay is too slow.
I've written a new PCoE faction coverage and updated the Association as well as minor updates on others.
The Apollyon was never meant to go up straight away, it was a WIP that I acidentally put in like the arrays one (which was like 4 lines). I've since added large sections like the effect on micro-parasites and flora and still have a lot to go like viral interaction.
Long and short, not ready for a release yet if we can delay a bit longer?
Out of intrest are we talking a public version of the GDD?
