What is w_model? Huh? I thought that without it - skin doesn't work.
Skins can and (as far as I know) will work without world models. The only thing the world models (w_model) do is make it so that you see the weapon skin as it is supposed to be when held by other players or dropped on the ground. Other than that, they really have no dominant significance to the skin itself.
If anything, the only time it doesn't work is if the archive for the skin is messed up (I.E., files not included or named improperly, files in wrong locations, etc.).
