Hello there.

So basically, I got really bored, and felt like making a little map for knifing bitches in, and I came up with this piece.

I tried to make a style similar to Mirrors Edge, which is pretty much done with the textures. All the textures in this map are custom, even the props (they're reskins).

The map was originally intended to be an over-the-top detailed novelty map for a portfolio, but I guess it can be that and a playable knife map...right?

The textures are simply matte, plain colors that use detail normalmaps to give the texture depth and such. Valve did the same thing with a couple of episode 2 textures that were used in the silo maps (Crows Nest chapter). EVERY texture has a normalmap applied to it.


THE RESKINS ARE NOT INCLUDED NOW! THEY WILL NOT WORK IF EMBEDDED SO YOU MUST DOWNLOAD THEM SEPARATELY AND INSTALL THEM LIKE YOU WOULD A WEAPON RESKIN. DOWNLOAD THEM HERE!!!!

The only downside to this is that the props that are reskinned will remain this way in any map you play. Honestly though they look good anywhere I guess. They have phong so they should look right in any lighting.

THE MAP HAS BEEN UPDATED ONCE AGAIN, ALL CUSTOM CONTENT SHOULD BE INCLUDED, EXCLUDING THE RESKINS WHICH MUST BE DOWNLOADED AND INSTALLED SEPARATELY!

Since it's knife map, it doesn't have to be so big, and you didn't expand it so much, which is great. And the falling water is just awesome. You have big talent... Looking forward to see more maps from you! ;)

    Cons: I don't know what to say on this part, cause it's detailed enough, it's very varied, lot's of places to explore :D

    Improvements: This kind of map style would be very cool if you made it for other types than knife, maybe; GG, or bomb map :D

    Notes: I would really see another map like this with the same architecture and style, made for Gun Game or something else like DE or CS. cause you have a great imagination!

    To be honest, I'd love to do some more work with the setting, and with proper textures. I had a reworked pack of textures which looked loads better, however I encountered a horrible virus; and with no way to back any of my data up, I was forced to completely wipe out my computer, and I lost all my work.

    Thus, all my projects have been dead since then. It's probably the worst experience I've had with computers so far, and hopefully nothing will exceed this.

    I did. CSS is ALWAYS maxed out for me. I assume you mean the grate textures doing that mipmap shit where they get all big and stuff as you move away.     taking them in 800x600 resolution might help


    Blarg it. It'll work fine for you guys if you play the map. However a friend of mine says there's still missing content. I guess Pakrat failed me again. I might have to use the alternative or something.

    Pros: realyy is great, u were able to captulre that mirrors edge feel and i can easily tell :P the textures are perfect and nice and clean :D

I wanted to base the style off of Mirrors Edge. The main feature is just...water I guess. Everything in this map appears wet. Originally I had a little system incorporated that would evaporate water and there were capsules at the top that would condense the vapor into little clouds which would then rain on the map. However since this is only CSS, I can't make epic little particle effects and func_precipitation looks like CRAP, so I ended up just removing it at the end.

The architecture isn't elaborate. The main feature is pipes, in case you were wondering. They don't play any major role other than to exist in the map as visual aspects.
