Although not a bad idea, select and gather the maps where the documentary rigor and artistic concept presents an important feature
I personally take my time to gather documentation information for my project: drawings, images, photographs, videos, written documentation, information historical, information architectural, information artistic, etc.
Collecting these maps in a section that could be called "Concept Art in Mapping" would be very helpful and inspiring.
I give the example maps as
de_pripyat by -SpawN- (Polikarpov Anton)
This is the real Pripyat
And this is de_pripyat map for cs 1.6:

Are maps that have convinced me to do any possible scenario on a map, however complex seem, inspired me to accept the challenges and move on.
I think these types of maps should not lost in the amount of maps "abstract" that occur daily, but should be in a special place, clearly traceable to lead the way and inspire all mapper.
In addition to reward authors for their effort and dedication.
