Suggestion: Upgrade WYSIWYG editor?

Although our current WYSIWYG editor is not bad it can use some improvements for usability. When we now make something bold, italic, add image, ... we use or see those "weird" code lines. Like:

![](http://..... "Title")

Or we can use HTML code to do the same effect. Now not a lot of people are familiar with this and it kinda makes a mess in the editor.

Maybe we could do something like/with the open source code from CKEditor. It allows you to fully customize your text and see images and changes in the editor window so no code lines (or you have to switch it to html view).

Idk what your guys think but the code is a non-copyleft license which gives companies complete freedom when integrating CKEditor into their products and websites. Maybe we can use some of the code or write our own to get a similar effect.

I was just playing around with their code and I thought maybe Gamebanana can use some features like that.

I am so in love with this idea! The default markup of GameBanana is so strange and random. I guess we should implement with a WYSIWYG editor(there are hundreds of free ones). It should show realtime changes and links, images, video embeds should be allowed and implemented realtime.

I'm kinda with mini, I don't see why you'd need all that for just moving modules around your layout.

Surely the WYSIWYG Editor is just for moving modules around.

If you want to change things like adding images or making things bold then you have to use the Profile Template one. Sure you need to know a bit of html to do this but that's why the WYSIWYG Editor exists incase you don't.

Also 'those "weird" code lines' are called markdown. Google it :)

I've never used the WYSIWYG editor because I'm apt enough with HTML; but if code appears in a WYSIWYG editor, it's not a WYSIWYG editor.

Well this is code in the "code view" so you have a option to switch between both.

I'd like this as the current editor is kinda weird to use to many other website standards! And sometimes confusing like the "block code function" you don't know if you've written it or not so that's quite annoying!

I'd defiantly also suggest to have a tab where you can choose between the simple editor and html editor to make it more readable for those who are known with it!
