Suggestion: Redesign Frontpage
Redesign the frontpage for easier reading using equal-height modules.
The frontpage as of right now is one huge mess. With modules all over the place, and the addition of the subfeed, it's almost impossible to get an overview the first time you look over it. This seriously needs fixing. Simply re-organize and resize the modules to fit into a grid. The human eye likes straight lines and grids deliver plenty of that. With broken straight lines, such as the ones we have right now on the fronptage, our eyes fly all over the place, and it's difficult to focus on any one module without concentrating. A few things to keep in mind:
- Keep the modules equal height down to the pixel size. Seriously. Even small differences will confuse the viewers.
- Consider removing the SubFeed. One large module to the side that breaks with all grids, and suddenly stops in the middle of the page is no good. Actually, it's straight out horrible. I realize that this may help some people, but the current implementation of it just doesn't cut it.
- Consider grouping modules by topic. Have all skin/model-themed modules in a small group, all map/texture-themed modules in a small group, all site/news-themed modules in a small group and so on. At the same time, keep the skin/maps/threads/news around the top, just as they are now, since those are the most used modules.
