Overview

I have made the change from a WIP to an official gameplay modpack! All the universal changes I had planned have been implemented, and every character has been buffed/reworked in some way!

I started out playing Smooth Lander Heavy Gravity, and Smooth Lander Anchor Jump as a way to play a faster paced smash 4. Now that modding has become way more popular, I'm able to take what I loved about SLAJ, and add many new features and adjustments that weren't possible with equipment! As well as adding many fixes caused by increased gravity. This mod offers gameplay that is faster and more tech chase focused, while also retaining unique character traits that made Vanilla sm4sh so much fun!

If you'd like to see some Artful Lander in action, check out the gameplay videos below! (Note: The videos uses 1.5 and 1.8b, outdated AL Versions. The current version still has the same feel to it however)





General Changes

Gravity: 1.0x > 1.2x
Fall Speed: 1.0x > 1.4x
Fast Fall Speed: 1.0x > 1.1x
All Aerials have their landing lag reduced by 33% (With some exceptions)
Buffer Window 10 (frames) > 3
Shield Regeneration Rate: 1.0x > 0.75x
Grab Immunity Frames: 70 > 60
Hitstun increased from 0.4 > 0.42
Hitstun Cancelling removed
All ground to air momentum speeds have been increased to 1
Dash Dancing Implemented
Rage Removed
Knockback while crouching: 0.85x > 0.67x
All Grounded Spikes now do electric effects and cannot be teched, this also allows them to retain their hitstun.
Certain characters now have access to a jab that jab locks.
Getup attack Shield Damage 8 > 1
DI Value Increased 0.17 > 0.23
SDI Distance 2 > 2.8
Vectoring Removed
Hitlag 5 > 3.5
Untechable tumble animation over 100% chance 0.3 (30%) > 0 (0%)
All Aerial Footstool Endlag has been decreased by 5
Interrupted Charged Smash Attack Knockback Multiplier: 1.2x > 1x
Edge Cancelling for all Normal Aerials has been implemented

Rolls and Airdodges

Rolls have been adjusted in length. First Actionable frame below:
27 > 32
28 > 32
30 > 33
31 > 34
32 > 35
33 > 35
34 > 35
36 (Yoshi) > Unchanged
37 (Bayonetta) > 40
40 (Samus) > 37

Airdodges have all been given an extra 3 frames of endlag (Mewtwo received 4 extra frames) as well as a normalized intangibility startup of 3 (Besides Bayonetta)

Updated Ledges

Ledge Regrab Penalty: 54 Frames > 29 Frames
Vulnerability Frames when grabbing the edge 2 > 0
All Ledgegrab ranges decreased from 1x > 0.75x
Reverse Ledgegrab range 0.6x > 0.8x
All Ledgegrab Animations decreased from 20 frames > 7 Frames
Most recoveries now have altered LedgeGrabboxes. Making sweetspotting the ledge more important.

Gravity Based Fixes

Vertical Knockback Formula: 5 x (Gravity - 0.075) > 8 x (Gravity - 0.0625)
All spammable low% moves like up-tilts have had altered Knockback so they are not as much of a problem.
All Multi-jump characters have been given boosted Doubles jumps, as gravity had an increased effect on them.
All recoveries that were hit by the increased gravity are fixed. 
This includes:

Luigi's Down-B, Dr. Mario’s Down-B, Donkey Kong's Up-B, Diddy Kong's Up-B and Side-B, Little Mac's Side-B, Link's Up-B, Sheik's Down-B, Toon Link's Up-B, Samus' Up-B, and Robin's Up-B.

As of Version 2.0, ever single character has been buffed/reworked in some way! Potential updates will likely feature animation imports or character tweaks.

Music

I have also added a unique Menu theme that you can't get anywhere else! (Over "How to Play")

The song is All Star Rest Area Acoustic Guitar Arrangement by a good friend of mine, Don Bartlett. Also known by his gamertag "2ManyCooks."

More Custom music will come eventually.

    Is there a way that I can disable the buffer window in itself? This is the only mod I have found that does this.

    Extremely fun mod. Recovering as Palutena is harder than I'd like, and there's still room for improvement, but compared to the immeasurable upsides those are just nitpicks.

    Awesome to see this out of WIP status! I love this mod for being a nice balance of Melee and Smash 4, and it's so great that there's so many nice character changes (Like Project M Sonic F-air).

    I've been playing this mod ever since the very first WIP version, and it is my favorite Balance Mod ever. All low tier characters have been substantially buffed to be viable without making them OP (which is great for me, since I main Ganondorf, Dedede and Samus).
    Great job, Hobbes! Keep up with the good work.
