F.3.A.R. - My personal impression

For those who might be interested in this game.

So I got myself F.3.A.R. yesterday and played it throug within I guess 5 to 6 hours.

In my opinion the game's the least scariest (hope that's sill english) game of all three. The first one sraced the shit outta me, even after I played it a second time. The second time had it scary moments too, but couldn't reach the level of the first one.

Now the third part of this series: It is faaaar away form being scary... Everything was kinda predictable. But the storyline is pretty intersting, BUT they should have made some more thoughts about the story. I mean why the hell is the ghost of Paxton Fettel here? And why the hell became Harlen Wade such a monster. That's the only thing that does not fit into the F.E.A.R. series.

My impressions about the Multiplayer part: First off: Are you serious, Day 1 Studis? Are you serious to release a Multiplayer for PC without textchat? The next thing that pisses me off, is the micrphone, that seems to be permantly active. There's still alot to do in a technical aspect.

Other than that the Multiplayer is very good and would become even better if you have frieds to play with. I was pretty fucked up, because I played with some idiots that didn't understand English.

I didn't play the Co-op mode because nobody of my mates has is, but I already played the first "interval" with Fettel and by that I can tell it must be funny to play.

To be honest I'd rahter see something out of Monolith's production - I mean, they made the first two games, they surly had better ideas to realize the third part of ther series - but it's still a solid FPS with an stable MP part (I'm still looking forward to a textchat and a better viocechat).

Honestly, as a big FEAR series fan, I've to say that this game was the worst of all series. As you said, the first game scared the shit out of me, in this one almost always I could say when shit was going to happen and when not. Another fact that pissed me off is that cod thingy they put in. I mean, why they implemented that health regen bullshit? I love my 9 medkits, and health meter. Speaking about cod things... the melee system. Its weaker than the other two games had. That typical fast knife slash... sure it was fun killing tangos with that but meh... its not FEAR. In previous FEAR you had that awesome air kick and here its just a lazy boot which is boring. I heard many people didn't like Becket from the second game. For me, he was pretty much like Point man (aside that he wasn't that important in the plot) and SPOILER ALERT the fact that the encounter with him was so short and meaningless in the third game, made me rage. Its like he wasn't important at all in the whole series and I ask myself why? You played as him thought the whole second game, he got raped by Alma. They could develop something more with him.

So yea, the game was ok but all in all, as a FEAR game, it sucked ass.

    Fate fell short this time.

I agree. The healthsystem ruins the whole horror effect. In the first game, if you were low on health, you knew the next contact with an enemy could be you last. Now you get hit, hide behind a cover - at this point I want to mention the great coverings system - and wait until you're good to go.

+++SPOILER+++ And now... Becket. I liked to play Becket in FEAR2. He was a unique player, because this one women.. Genevive or something, made Becket to this ... and then?? Blown up like he was a stupid Armacham/Replica Soldier. When I saw Becket in this video, I was like; "Hey, cool :D" and when his body popped like a baloon, I was like; "Oh come'on Day1... D:<".

    Swifty

I would have to say that Fear 3 was probably one of the best games to come out this year, despite all of the other games that really didn't meet up to expectations, I think this will be a ground breaking new start for any new productions of Fear games, although the Alma story line is pretty much eaten up, cough, but there are two endings I believe I have only gotten Fettel's. But I would have to say the scare factor was decreased in this game due to the fact of co-op. The other games had you by yourself and you were on the edge of your seat. All in all I agree this should have been put out by Monolith but do remember the story line is still Monolith's it has not changed. And I do not mind the mechanics of the game, I think they were well put out for co-op but when playing single player I agree there should have been med pack's because once your down its done. All in all I was very pleased with this game and there were some very scary moments! But there was not as much gore as there was in Fear 1 and 2.

    Swifter than you!

I didn't play the Co-op mode because nobody of my mates has is, but I already played the first "interval" with Fettel and by that I can tell it must be funny to play.

I have it. Let's play it someday together.
