Recreation of the TF2 Beta/Trailer explosions, which were pretty much reskinned version of the default HL2 explosion, however those hl2 explosions were hardcoded effects and weren't particles so i had to recreate it in particle editor.

Also these aren't really suppose to look really visually pleasing, it's a mimic of the old early UGLY explosion, i made this so people who would like to have beta feeling in TF2 use it.

There are two versions in the zip, V1 has less smoke and is less viewblocking, V2 has more smoke and is slightly closer to the beta explosion but might block your view as you play.

    The beta trailer explosions are still in the game......recreation unnecessary.

    Proof, you say? Watch my Dynamite Pack sourcemod plugin test video, it uses "env_explosion" (with no changed settings).

    It would seem that the default TF2 "env_explosion" entity uses the trailer explosion effects. Everything's still there, files included. I can even check the game's source code (2008 code from the 2012 leak) for env_explosion stuff to see if they list which sprite VTFs it uses.

    EDIT: Though yes, I believe the explosions aren't particles and are as the submission description states, hardcoded. I guess that's what was meant by "recreation", you had to take the sprites and recreate particles.

    yes that's true, in tf2 you can even see those "hardcoded" hl2 explosions when you blow up explosive props ( ala hl2 explosive barrel ), also i've seen some sourcemod plugins make them seen too, just like yours.

    tf2 files actually overwrites the sprites which the default hl2 explosion uses. in the effects folders of tf2 textures, there's fire_cloud2.vtf, fire_embers1.vtf and fire_embers2.vtf these are the sprites for the default hl2 explosion, sprites with the exact same names exist in hl2's materials, if some were to take those sprites from hl2 and make a custom folder and put those in, env_explosion in tf2 would look exactly like the hl2 explosion.

    Theres something missing in the particle effect, after the explosion, there's no smoke, fix please?

    So the black soft smoke that can be seen in the video doesn't show up on your end?, because this does have smoke but it doesn't stay long as the one in the trailer, i kinda did that so that the smoke doesn't block out the view but i can probably just make the smoke stay longer.

    I'll put up another version that has more smoke then.

    EDIT: There are now 2 vpks in the zip, V2 has more smoke.
