DevNotes

This model was just a beginner's project to learn how to make and import models into source. I used 3DS MAX 9 to create the model, then StudioGUIModel to compile the model. I wanted to create something simple, so I thought, Source lacks stair models, so I made one that I thought would be cool. Making the model was easy, doing the UV Map, not so much. I managed to make the UV map, it isn't pretty, but it does it's job. The low poly model is perfect, and it serves many possibilites when creating a map.

This is my first ever model created, and first ever model imported into any game. It's was a learning project for myself, so that's basically the quality of it. I am releasing this model, because I think it came out pretty damn decent for a first time. The point of the project was to learn to model, learn to UV map, and learn to compile. The model came out good, with a low poly count. The UV map, well it came out. Never done one before and I was confused, but it's decent, and for this model, it gets the job done. Compiling the model, trial and error, about 20 times, but I got it :D. Please comment on the usage, economy, and whatever else you would like. Please don't assess the model on the texture, it's stairs, and it looks fine enough when compared with other models in the game.

Model Info- Poly count = 288 3 Texture Files(2 VTF, 1 VMT) 124.6x116.1x64.2

Includes both phonged and non-phonged version.

Pros: Looks great, especially for a first one. um, I suggest your next project just make more versions. Cons: None, except if you don't do improvements ill cut you. Improvements: In the next versions, put guide rails. and the centerpiece. so that people can make a spiral like staircase, except not spiral. Just another end center flat peice so people cna extend the stairwell. Make a straight version. Notes: Great job! Make more ^ ^
