Axis Or Ragdolls

Quick question regarding opinions or knowledge.

In the coming week, I am hoping to modify a wet floor sign I produced over a year ago. This sign is currently a physics prop that is absolutely rigid. What I want to do is give it an axel, so if the player bumps one side of the sign, it'll close and probably fall over. This isn't an animation, because lets say the player picked it up with the gravity gun, depending on where he was holding it, and the angle he was holding it at, the prop's over side may or may not open.

This is the first time I intend to perform such an operation on a product other then a character model, so I am questioning how I should go about doing this. I am currently considering turning the prop simply into a ragdoll, and simply create a joint at the point I wish for the axis to be at. However, I am almost certain there is a lot more efficient way to do this, so before I get started, I wanted to check if there was another way, and if so, where could I find it?

Thankyou... ^^
