Hello, in Counter-Strike source (with the original, and skins of it) the knife only plays the stab miss animation when I attack, even for a normal attack, but when I hit something it plays any animation. It did this on my old PC too so I'm sure it's not my fault.

Yes there is, usually there are several animations, there's slash1 miss, slash2 miss and stab miss, and hit animations for them to, but the thing is, until I actually hit something, it's just playing stab miss.

never seen them on source, all of them are the same, only the sounds are different.... unless you're using a custom skin, in which case re-DL and re-install it

There's one animation if you're randomly swiping thin air, and it either plays a stab or slash animation when you hit something.

oh you mean the one that goes from outside to in when people are running, and then the other two: one looks like it would be a pencil to the side of the body and the other a slash across the face? (use your imagination)
