VX teaches you how to create custom weapon skins for CS2D!
Alrighty, so you want to make custom weapons on Counter-Strike 2D like this one?
Well, VX is here to teach you how to.
STEP 1: Get Transparent Windows. It will not create a Desktop Icon after installation, so you probably want to goto the directory you installed it into to start up the program. (Default is - C:\Program Files\Transparent Windows)
See ScreenShot 1.
STEP 2: Find a picture of a gun you want with Google. Click Images at the top, and search for a gun you want to make your skin as. In this case, I'll make an Uzi SMG. So save it to your Desktop by Right-Clicking the image, then Save Image As...
See ScreenShot 2.
STEP 3: Goto your Counter-Strike 2D Directory>gfx>weapons, and look for the weapon you want to replace it with. For me, I'll replace MAC-10.
See ScreenShot 3
STEP 4: Right-Click the weapon you're replacing, I recommend to start with the Buy Menu Sprite. That's the one that has the _m suffix. Right-click, and then Edit. In this tutorial, i'll use MS Paint to draw up the gun. After you have MS Paint up with the weapon in the picture, press the magnifying tool and magnify up to 8X. That's the max.
See ScreenShot 4.
STEP 5: Open up Transparent Windows, to know if the program is up or not, check your taskbar at the bottom-right corner, and go back to your MS Paint with the MAC-10, or whatever gun you're editing, and you may notice a bar near the minimize and close icons at the top-right corner. Ignore that for now, first, minimize all programs, or close them, but leave your picture of the gun you found on Google up. Now, go back to MS Paint, now we use the bar at the corner. The bar controls the transparency of the program. So, either right-click on it and change the transparency, or just drag the bar from left to right to change the transparency. Left to make it more transparent, right to make it more visible. Once you're comfortable with the transparency of the program, grab the Brush Tool, and brush out the weapon with the same color as the background color, leaving the document filled up with just the color, normally that pink-ish color.
See ScreenShots 5 and 6.
STEP 5: Go back to the Uzi picture. (Or whatever gun you're using.) Resize it to your liking, it can be a Huge BuyPic, making it more realistic and detailed, if you're skilled at shading and lighting, but would be harder, or, making a regular sized buypic weapon, whatever you like. Once that's done, put the Uzi in a certain area, like in the middle of the screen.
Then, open up MS Paint again, and it should look something like this:
Move the Uzi right where the Pink Background is.
Now. Use either the Pencil tool, or the Line tool, and switch to the color BLACK. Trace around the gun, carefully, and once you're done with the outlining, It's your choice of coloring and texturing the weapon. Once you're done, grab the select tool (The rectangle on top of the Paint Bucket), and select the whole weapon. Then Press Edit>Copy. Save the _m sprite, as you do not want to lose it.
Now open up the _d sprite, in the same folder where you found the _m sprite. Right-Click>Edit on the _d sprite, and then magnify up to 8X again. Press Edit>Paste, and resize the picture to a small size, do not worry about the appearance of the weapon.
For the _h sprites (The weapons you see the players holding), You're going to have to figure out to draw that out on your own, I have to go through it, so do you.
Hey, Guess what.
YOU JUST MADE YOUR VERY OWN CS2D WEAPON SKIN. :D
I guess this concludes the tutorial.
Good luck skinning.
Also, you'll also have to figure out where to get sounds too.
A HIGH RATING IS APPRECIATED!!
