Cs_piranha Hostage Rescue by daisukekazama

Medium-sized close combat map. Well detailed, 255-unit tileset (biggest possible), hand-designed from scratch. Custom sprites, new sounds.... the bells and whistles. There are enough spawn points to support up to thirty people, but it plays best with around twenty give or take.

There's an office area, warehouse, and port with lots of boxes, as well as a parking lot. A combination of open spaces and tight quarters, requires careful planning and tactics for both sides. Ts have an initial disadvantage since they are spread out, but can ambush easier.

Four hostages, two rescue points.

Credits implied to UnrealSoftware and Valve for default sprites and sounds.

One thing I've realized now after thoroughly playing the map, is that you have it a bit too big. The central building and warehouse areas are awesome and amazing, but you then have huge sections of endless road, lengthy docks, row upon row of shipping containers, and expanses of grass or concrete that really serve little purpose. Try cutting down on the "exterior" of the map. You have an amazing "interior", but the outside just seems a bit too big, as there are so many places to wander to or just get lost.

Please realize I am not trying to be over critical, but I'm just trying to point out something that will make the map better. The core of the map is astounding, with great textures and sprites. You just need to simplify everything else while maintaining the same level of quality and detail.

    Not conventional; inventional.

Posted by |jUSTiN| Hint: Use a env_breakable with the transparent tile as its image, No Shadow, ~1,000,000 Health, and No Material (no shoot/break sound) for the clipping of the vehicles, or anything you don't want to be able to go through. That way you won't have to create a seperate Wall Block version of each tile, and it's a lot easier to copy and arrange the env_breakable entities.

    Brilliant idea! Thanks :)

No doubt that this is a good looking map. :D It has extreme tiles, extreme sprites, and the generated effects looks well placed, and most of all it's a well designed map. A great map is finally here, I hope you create more!

And yeah I added it to favorites. :) Excellent map, daisukekazama.

    Sincerely, KimKat.
